Can't remember...did anyone end up purchasing one of those high-end resin dino kits?
Those still interest me...too bad life got in the way of my modeling goals.
"Gaiety is the most outstanding feature of the Soviet Union." - Josef Stalin
Hey thanks Moff, it's just a dot of gold paint with a pupil drawn as a line from a black marker.
"I dream in fire but work in clay." -Arthur Machen
All the builds look great! The paint finishes look awesome (I especially love the Albertosaur's eyes).
Bruce: I said 1/35th but it's probably larger. The figure is resin but I don't remember who made it. She (thanks!) is about 3.5in/9cm tall at the shoulder and 9in/23cm long. The real thing was about half the size of a T.rex, as one guy described the T.rex as a tiger and the Albertosaurus as a leopard. Most fossils were around 30ft/10m long and probably weighed about 3 tons.
Wayne: I'm really interested now in what you're cooking up!
i am working on a Ruissian KZKT-537L 8x8 for the Jan GB. just checked and my triceratops does not fit in the cargo compartment but the baby T-rex does, just barely. Hmmmmm another bizzaro thought. i do have a 2 page pdf on using feathers to make ferns. drop me a PM with your email if you want a copy.

Cliff,
I really like the colors on your Albertosaur. She (I made a command decision to give your Dino a sex!) looks very realistic! What scale is this kit?
Wayne,
I'm looking forward to seeing this diorama too!

1/35 Takom Merkava Mk.I
Thanks Wayne, you're welcome to it. Really looking forward to this dio!!!!!
BTW: Need to go back and lighten a couple of those photos still. Photobucket was giving me fits and I had to walk away from it.
cool. i may use your coloring for a couple of Velociraptors and a baby t-rex. My diorama ideas keep getting more bizzare.
Great job there Bruce, love the Spino, fish, the whole thing!!!
I finished my Albertosaur last week and finally got the base done up yesterday evening and the photos taken this afternoon. And then ended up fighting the FSM website and PB for the last couple hours to get anything posted.... Honest to gosh neither of the browsers I use would post and I finally loaded up Windows Exploder, which is halfway working for posting...
HF
very cool. i like the fish and the red on the dino. i suspect, like red usually is, it is more prominent in photos than in person. both are different from Jibbers which just adds to the GB.
GAMERA
Alli turned out nicely. my new dog ahas an dino playtoy called Alli,
i am thinking of extending this thru 2017 but i may be the only one with 8 primed in the paint cue.
Thanks to all who partticipated. expect to see some of mine in "weird" dioramas.
Gentleman,
I finally finished the Spinosaurus!
I really liked this kit, but, I did find that I missed a lot of seems. This was my first vinyl kit, and I used acrylic, enamel and lacquer paints on this kit. I didn't do a very good job with the ground cover, I may go back and redo some later on.
Wayne, I apologize for taking so long. Thank you very much for running this GB. It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot while building this kit.
The pictures:
And the boss is happy!
Thank you for looking, I hope you enjoyed!
Thanks again Wayne for running this GB!
Comments and critiques are welcome!
hogfanfs Yeah, trying to get it finished before Christmas for my daughter. I'm looking forward to seeing your Albertosaurus finished. Have you figured out if it's a boy or girl yet? lol!

Whoops! Still not sure. Guess I should flip a coin and decide!
Bruce: Good to hear you're still in this too.
I hit Al with some dry-brushing and am waiting for it to get good and dry.
I have not forgotten about this GB. I'm hoping to have the Spinosaurus painted by this weekend, then I need to finish painting the fish. I should have it complete before the deadline, and get pictures posted.
Hey thanks guys.
Good to hear from you again Wayne. I was wondering if you'd left us! Good luck with the election judge position, I think I'd rather stick my right arm into a wood chipper!
I'm still not sure if Albertosaur is a boy dino or a girl dino. I've been calling it Big Al sometimes and Allie sometimes...
so much for having plenty of time in retirement. start 11 hour days as an election judge but after 08NOV it should be model building catch up thru the end of the year including dinos.
i know i used a lot of oil washes and some COMART paints. they can create some nice effects, lots of light coats of different colors.
i like the stripes on albert
Gam, I got ya my man.
Wayne is very busy and I have'nt seen Terry post in quite a while.
Albert is looking good. A wash should draw out the detail nicely.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Anyone still alive in here?!?
FINALLY got the paint on the ol' Albertosaur where I wanted. He's a little glossy, I'm going to hit him with a sludge wash and see if that picks out the detail.
Gamera Moff Gamera Lol, thanks Moff! Now I want to paint a big white star on his side.... They have an interesting first person shooter video game called "Dino D-Day", which is basically WWII and dinosaurs combined. I don't personally like the gameplay, but it's a neat idea. Lol, I think I may have seen that. Too bad my reflexes suck or might give it a try.

Sorry for pulling the thread so far off topic!
Gamera Well, I couldn't decide on what colour to paint my Albertosaur and then from somewhere it hit me- try olive drab...

Makes sense...if I was a predator, I'd sure want to be suited up in olive drab

Anyway I tried it on a small (4 inch long/ 10 mm) Carnotaurus I painted for a friend's Dungeons and Dragons game. Sorta like how the OD green came out. You guys think it looks ok?
Hey Hunter, welcome!
Wayne: Looks really cool! I set aside my Tamiya T-rex because I couldn't get the paint to look the way I wanted- I really like the translucent layered look you've got there.
modelcrazy That's going to be great Hunter. Maybe you’re T-rex and my Trike can meet up somewhere in Montana's majestic badlands.
Thank you sir for adding me to the GB. And yes, it will be fun to see how Jibber and I finish the almighty T-Rex.
Steve,
That would be something to see....I would be affraid of my T-Rex eating your Trike!(lol) I'd also be to affraid to punish Rex for doing that
Hunter
Hey HUNTER.
welcome. I see JIBBER has one in the roster too. will be fun to compare the coloring and markings from each of you.
i have both of the Tamiya 1/35 ones in the stash.
