Better late then never I guess. Here is my glider tug turned transport on the eastern front in 1942. I went with a subtle brown on the underside for the exhaust since the German fuel was coal based and I didn't want to over do it.

Still working on the 111 but it looks like I just have the guns and gear doors left.
Well, you applied it really well, Ed. It adds a lot of interest to the white camouflage.
Yes, cheap store brand oils and I used odorless Terpenoid to blend the dots. The odorless Terpenoid works the same as turpentine without that harsh lingering smell. The process is still relatively new to me with trial and error as to which colors to use on the different base colors. I probably could have gotten away with less dots but I'm still learning.

Going to sit down and do some dot filtering to clear my mind.
Well, it didn't clear me head out but I did get some work done on the upper side of the 111.
Here just the wings are done and you can see the difference between the filter on the wings compaired to the fuselage.
I think I have to hit the fuselage some more.
Nice work on the camouflage uppers, Ed. Very nicely and deftly done!
Well, here is the 111 build at the end of 2020. I hope to finish this one withing the next week or two with some weathering and a some flat coats.
I'm sure you'll get it done!

Some progress of the 111. I'm kind of just winging the white and black finish on this so we will see how it comes out.
I've wondered about things like this, too, from time to time and kit to kit. It's almost like something happens to the mold after a few years.
That's a big project!
Two filling and sanding sessions later to get rid of the step and fill in the ugly wing root joint. Going to have to prime this and fill some more I think.
Sounds like you'll be getting out the filler; but what you've done is looking good.
And we have some 111 progress shots. The top of the wing root fits great but I can't say so much for the bottom. The old Matchbox kit fit better in that department.

Great choice, Ed. I've got a couple of Heinkel's, but from Airfix. Looking forward to seeing this.
So I've decided to do this Italeri 1/72 He111. The subject has a black camo bottom with the 70/71 splinter overpainted with winter white wash. Should be an interesting learning experiance since I've never done black camo or the winter white before.
