Those soviet armored cars were nice looking vehicles. Looking good. I wonder how they performed in combat. That's a decent sized gun and probably did well against the eary panzers. It not easy to get a lot of info on them.

Some more work on the PT-76. I attached all the fiddly bits, hand holds, cleats, etc. Trumpeter included string you're supposed to use for the tow cable. At first, I was thinking that's not going to work but thought I'd give it a try any way. I applied some thin CA, sanded the hardened string to remove the fuzz, cut them to length, attached them to their ends, then painted the cable with steel. After I apply some oil wash I think they are going to work fine.

The instructions show the turret next.

Looking good bud. Those cables look the part. I did the same thing but I used regular thinned white glue.

it is a BT series turret. The 1/35 BA-10, what i am working on, has a different turret than the BA-6, the little one, but i have a 1/35 in the queue for our civil wars theme. Both had 45mm gun which, as you know, outgunned 90% of German armor in Barbarossa. they used a lot of armored cars and armored trains during the Russian Civil War

i have used fake flower stems. easy to get the bends you want and they come in different diameters. tried wrapping them with speaker wire strands but was not worth the time. could probably make nice ones using a rope walk. if i borrow one and it works i will just block off an afternoon and make about 20 feet.

I usually use 20 - 24 ga twisted wire but I didn't bring any with me to Dallas. The string actually looks like it will work out pretty good.

One thing that caught my eye in the movie was it had a built-in miniature flamethrower in the turret. It couldn't have been standard-issue, could it? Was that just a movie thing?

Ditto A ditto to a ditto.  Nice tracks.  This GB is really moving along.  Been down with a nasty chest cold, but starting to feel better.  Thanks for the updates.  You guys are awesome.

Finally have the base coat down (mostly), but some embarrassing seams showed up.  Didn't look bad to me until the paint went down.  Now they are so obvious that it's like a poke in the eye.

Crown, man those tracks looks so good Yes Yeah, The Beast, I saw it several years ago, found the DVD at a truckstop somehwere for $5.00 around 7 years ago, bought it and never opend the packaging. Right now it's 1600 miles away at my home in Boise.

Your workspace looks kinda like mine with pieces and parts of other builds pushed to the side for the moment LOL.

Oh and hope you get over that cold soon ManCityFan. Guess it's a minor illness but when you're all congested and can't even sleep it doesn't feel like it.

So true.  Feeling better today, and don't sound like Darth Vader for the first time in about a week.  Although the voice is still a fairly deep baritone.  Coughing fits are not good for airbrushing.  Big Smile  Plus a cold basement doesn't attract me much when I feel awful.

You guys have set the bar pretty high in this GB.  I will do what I can with this old kit.  Might get to that seam work today.  Not a huge deal, fuel barrels need some work, and the main barrel came in two pieces (not lengthwise, but the end glues onto the main part) and I did a poor job with that seam.  Wish I had thought this through when starting the kit, as the viewing ports are just empty spaces.  I could have filled those with clear styrene, which would have been a big improvement.  Can't think of how to do that now that I have glued the turret.  Oh well, there are better kits out there, and I am still learning.

Glad to hear you're feeling somewhat better.

I think I may have said I built the old Tamiya KV-II years ago. It's a decent kit but not outstanding, you probably did the right thing in using this one for a practice kit. I believe I've read that the Trumpeter kits are some of the best KV-Is out there right now.

That is why I stay home as much as possable, or wear a mask when I do go somewhere. Something like that would end me in the hospital and possably kill me.

Hey Steve, that is good practice.  I am sure I picked this up at work.  Lots of hacking and sneezing last week.

Please stay safe.
