Doug: If IPMS Tidewater does another two-day regional it might be worth heading up to visit your son and then hit the show. The Virginia Beach Convention Center is really nice and the Tidewater boys put on a great show.

We're trying to get the regional sometime in the next few years as well.

Thanks Tony! This is definitely  not a skill level 5 kit, but still the outside is nicely detailed.

Cliff... That sounds like a plan! In "19" Chattanooga is hosting the Nationals and we're  co sponsoring with them. Should be fun.

Alrighty then... a little more from me...

Ive got the interior as done as I'm going to, and the fuselage halves glued. Looks like a touch of putty will be required, but not too much. I do love the Air Scale instrument decals.

You can see where I've had to apply putty, ...

And I managed to assy the landing gears... and thats it for now!

With my Tamiya Type 10 on its way to me, I think I'm going to join you guys with that one.

I'm not going to do anything fancy with it, just a simple, most likely OOB build. I might replace the tracks, but I'll have a look at them first before I decide on that.

OK, I'm getting a bit more done, but like I've mentioned in another build I'm doing, I dislocated my index finger the other day, and it took me a try or two to get it back in place, now its sore as hell (but getting better) and immobilized, so it might cause a slow down in progress! lol... So any way, heres some more.

I managed to get the canopies taped and in place...

The engines built and painted. I'm not doing a lot to them being they won't be seen once assembled.

And they are installed... Thats about it for now... more in a short! Take care all!

Doug: Ouch! Hope your finger is better soon, sounds painful.

Still you're making great progress, nice work on masking the canopy.

Thanks Cliff... Yeah it was for a bit, that's why I tried and thankfully succeed to pop it back in. I don't think I could have stood waiting in the emergency room for two hrs to be treated. And yeah, I'm figuring out ways to work around it for at least another week or so.

And thanks for the comment. Fortunately this one is fairly well made and was easy to mask.

Thanks again...

Doug

Afternoon all! Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Pretty hot and humid here, but hey... Its summer in the south! lol a bit more progress here...

Engine cowlings and exhaust in place now.

Coolers and intakes along with fiddly underside parts installed...

And, let the fun begin. I'll preshade the entire thing. Tricky being I'm having to use my middle finger to trigger the AB. Also, (don't ask why) I bought a new Pascche Talon grav. fed AB, and ith giving me fits. It won't spray a steady spray. it seems to spray until what was in the nozzle is used up, then quits until it gets more into the nozzle. I'll have to tear it apart and see if I can resolve. Until then I'll just go back to my tried and trusted Master Pro.

Well, thats about it for now. Might not get to do much this week, We have a local show at Hobby Town this coming weekend, and Friday my wife leaves for Japan on business for a week, so I will be a bit tied up! BUT... Back in a bit!

Doug: Looks fantastic from here! And I know what you mean, trying to preshade with an airbrush that just keeps clogging is the pits. I've had to walk away a few times to keep from flinging the plane across the room.

Lol, I have to ask if you've asked your wife to bring you anything plastic back???

Doug, that preshading looks spot on to me. I never would've known you had any issues if you hadn't told us.

Hey Cliff, Well, she usually does... (Wink) She stays near the Company in down town Tokyo, and said she knows the 7 story hobby shop there. Not sure who that is but she pases it on the way to the subway every day. She also has a few friends who live there, and it helps that she speaks Japanese fluintly. So... I'll keep my fingers crossed! lol... I think I found the problem with the air brush. The little teeny o ring inside the air valve the trigger activates, had a tiny little cut on it. I found the air valve was leaking with it being unscrewed from the gun. I keep a repair kit or two on hand, and was able to disassy. and replace the oring. it stopped leaking. So I got lucky this time.

Clemens... Thanks bud, but like I said, when I couldnt get the hi-dollar Talon to work right, I went back to my tried and true Master Pro, and it as always, came through for me! I think the Talon may be OK now, I haven't had a chance to try it out again, but its not passing air through the nozzel now just sitting in the holder, so it will likely be ok now. It was funny, just sitting in the holder not even being touched, you would see little bubbles forming at the needle and tip. I think its OK now.

Thanks again ... Take care !

Doug

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this is exactly the way to post to a group build, but here goes...

I would like to enter the Japanese Group Build with a 1/32 A5M4 Claude by Special Hobby.

Hopefully my startup pictures will show up with this post...lol

Sarge: Welcome!!! Your photo isn't coming though but the rest of the post I can see fine. The photos came up fine before so it's probably just a matter of tinkering with it till they do.

In any case I'll just put you down on the roster now.

Thanks Gamera and thanks for everyone's patience.

I think the modeling part will be easier...lol

I will note in future:  Make sure to start the thread in the cockamamie group build!

I will probably just go back to imgur and recopy the pictures and re-edit the posts for those two pics.

Is my whole thread there or just that first posting?

Thanks Griffin25!

It's been an adventure all right.  Except that it chews into modeling time or in this case, delays my get into the pool swimming time, I don't mind.  I always learn some computer stuff trying to post on different sites...Sigh

Sargee: I think you've made it though the hard part now though. Should be easier from now on.

I suppose we could ask Aaron as a mod to delete your original post but it will eventually just drop off the bottom of the page over time if no one posts anything else to it.

I'm looking forward to following you. I've built a few Special Hobby 1/48th kits and thought they were kinda rough. I've heard the newer 1/32nd kits like yours are much better engineered though.

Griffin: If you have the time check out the finished photos in the roster. Hate to brag but the guys have done some outstanding work!!!
