I was gonna try the hot water trick but was sitting at the bench and said what the heck I don't feel like getting up. The hot water trick should help so thanks for the tip. Hey I just received my Hyakushiki Shitei in the mail and it's a beauty. Like you said, I don't think they make masks for this one.

Those are the markings for Kobayashi's Blue 24 Tony of the 244 Sentai. I told you about that a while back on another thread and about my Revell 1/32 Tony I have in the stash with a resin pit.

That Tamiya kit should be a shake and bake build.

PJ... You'll like the kit. Its very easy to build, yet still has a good degree of detail. That candle warmer can be found at Hobby Lobby for about 5 bucks, and the aquarium heater nis relatively cheap if you decide to go that route. And yes the warmed water works well, specially on old decals. 

Toshi... All the years I've built models, I've never built the Ki 61. Time to remedy that! Lol...Glad your here...

And we're into the decals now, Fortunately I had the tail markings for the Chuti in some left over decals.

I'll let the decals set up over night and have at it again in the morning. They are still soft and wrinkley, and I don't want to have an accident! lol

Is that color IJA Green? It looks bluish and damned good looking too. Must be the flash or lighting?

Your Tony peaked my interest since I have one in 1/32 and looked over the Tamiya instructions and apparently they have the wrong plane listed for Kobayashi which is Blue 24. Also add a little white to the XF59 if using Tamiya paints for the pit. Humbrol #84 is a better match for the pit color and can be easily handbrushed if you desire.

This one I’m saving for a FSM article in the very near future.

Toshi: Looks like typical Tamiya quality there. I tried to build the Hasegawa 1/48th kit some years back and messed up the mottling so badly she got tossed into the spare parts box. I bought another to replace that one but never started on it, the Tamiya kit looks much better though! The visible parts are really cool, looking forward to seeing how that comes out.

PJ: Thanks for the link, interesting stuff. I've got at least one decal sheet that provides the stripes and some other markings in both red and blue. That 1/32nd Hien sounds awesome too!   

You are welcome Cliff. Rod Serling had one hell of an imagination creating these Twilight Zone episodes. There are a couple like "The King 9 Will Not Return" about a B-25 pilot that finds himself catapulted in time back 16 or 17 years to the crash site in the Libyan Desert of his plane. Serling got the idea from a newly discovered B24 crashed plane that went missing in WWII and discovered by an oil company survey crew in the Libyan desert in 1959.

Another cool one to watch is called "The Thirty Fathom Grave" about a US destroyer discovering a sunk and missing US sub off the coat of Guadalcanal in 1960. The rest is creepy.

Thanks for the reminder PJ. I've got the entire run of 'TTZ' on DVD, I really need to pull them out and rewatch them. 

There was some creepy war stories on 'One Step Beyond' too. I've watched a bunch of episodes on YouTube- I think it's all in public domain now.

You are welcome. OSB is another good creepy series.

A great sci fi series was the original The Outer Limits from 1963. Some of the so called special effects were cheesy but the idea was well thought of. Some pretty far out episodes here.

As for the visible fueselage half, I’m thinking of partially painting the rear end of the Hien and just show off the cockpit and engine.  Model Maniac had the exact kit done in this fashion.  It looked really cool yet I’m one whom loves the look of a complete visible fueselage.  I’ll have to see what outcome and decision I come to.  Until then, wish me luck and cross your fingers for me.

Toshi: I'm sure your Tony will turn out great. Mine was back before I started using Alclad and was using a NM finish that didn't stick well. I masked it off for the inkblots and when I pulled the mask off much of the paint came up with it. I fiddled around with it and never got it repaired how I liked it. Guess I should have just sanded down and repainted the whole thing.

Hey Nick, hate to be a spoil-sport but I was aiming at less than 10-20% assembly or roll-overs from a previous JGB. Your Zero looks to be maybe around 60-70% done so I have to turn you down here. You're always welcome to start another and enter though. 

And please finish her off and post her over on the aircraft section, you've got some great looking work done on her so far.

Here is my initial start of this very cool kit! 

I did do what plasticjunkie recomended and added a little white to the XF-59.  XF-59 is the majority of the color of the cockpit.

You are welcome Toshi. Carzy how just about each Japanese aircraft company had "their" own colors. I'm not a stickler on a "correct" color but try to get as close as possible. I think they called it Kawasaki tan or something like that. And by the by, the wheel wells and doors should be the same tan. Some of the later KI61s had them in NMF.
