George, i love it. Great finish, she all ready for action. Love the marking option you went for. I'll update the front page in a bit.

George that looks fantastic. The weathering looks just right weel done.

I have in the past had the same with residue on the clear bits. What I did was to remove it with some meth spirits on an earbut. I ususlly paint with enamels and use lacure clearcoat so I have also used turpentine to do this but one needs to be very carefull not to affect the paint.

Hi Folks,

I was finally able to be home from work all last week so am calling the Stuka complete. I still have the antenna wire to add but am debating if i will redo the mid canopy. It just did not clean up to my liking. I have ordered some new canopy masks so I can redo it if I just can't live with it. I made a mistake and used a masking company called P-Mask. Unlike the Eduard masks this one uses a tape similar to the Montex stuff and leaves a residue that makes it difficult to clean in my experience. This is the continuing learning process and am happy to share. I hope you find it turned out to be an interesting display. Any constructive feedback is most welcome as I continue to want to advance my skills!

I completed the Nell. It was an easy build but I made it more dificult than it needed to be. I started in in Feb, lost a few parts and kept breaking the fidely stuff off but I finished it. Admidditly I've gone through a few things since Feb so loosing a part here or there is understandable. I feel the paint and chipping turned out well but the build as a whole is not a show winner. It's just fine for my shelf though.

This finally completes all my backlog with the exception of the Badger. I may still get back to that before the GB is over.

Very nice paintwork on that Nell , love the look of it :-)

I added the green, now to get to the chipping and removing the liquid mask.

I was able to get quite a bit done. After completing the liquid mask on the canopys and greenhouses. I sprayed a black base using Tamiya acrylic NATO Black. I then sprayed silver over areas that would chip, sprayed some chipping fluid over the silver and went back over those areas with the NATO Black again. Then I sprayed the cowls black, Tamiya J.N. Grey on the underside and brown on the top. I then added the last of the canopies and finished spraying the brown. Once everything is nice and dry, I'll mask and add the acrylic Tamiya J.N. Green then work on the chipping once that is dry.

I never built that old tool airfox mozzy so cant comment on it. I believe the Tamiya Meteor is quite nice.

Sometimes we expect to much from older kits, we want them all to be late era tamiya fit and engineering when we should just build them for what they are, good cheap fun builds that you dont spend ages on :-)

I picked this one up from a LHS when I was in Brisbane, it was about half price so I thought I would treat myself. It is the first model I have spent over $20 on and have been very keen to get stuck into it after a couple of smaller practice ones.

So far I have really enjoyed working on it, the fit is really good and the detail (considering it is 1/72) is pretty good too. I also picked up the Eduard colour PE detail kit and canopy masks for it. Trying to bend and conform the 1/72 seatbelts, place the levers and IP's was probably the most frustrating and rewarding part of the build so far, but, I got the pit finished and almost ready to seal her up and attach the glasshouse.

Next up will be to finish off constructing the wings, engines and gear bays prior to major assembly and priming.

Please feel free to pass on any advice, tips, tricks and criticism as necessary.

Thens,  It's an older 1/48 Airfix kit that i picked up along with a stash of mixed planes. It included a 1/72 Matchbox Hadley Page Victor K2 and a number of Japanese planes. Being from your side of the pond, are you or anyone else familiar with these older Airfix kits? Is it worth putting them together or saving them for future value? Theuns,  it looks like and older 1/48 Aifix kit. I picked this up along with a stash of Japanese planes and an older 1/72 Matchbox Handley Page Victor K2. Being from your side of the pond, have you seen any of these older Airfix kits? Would you or anyone else know if its a safe plan to build these, or better hold on to them? Im going to try to include some pics here. Thanks, Mike

Hey guys I was offline but am back now. "I would like to join the GB. I've been working on a AMT kit 1/48 JU-88A4 for about two weeks and am currently about 65% complete. (Just received a new work computer since I'm currently working remotely.) I have pics of the process as done previously in other builds. Please advise if this is good to go. Mike" Mike I recon it might be a little to far advanced to fot in with the original "ruels" of this GB. If you have another model you would like to enter that fits better I am happy to add you in :-)

I'm back!

The Badger has gone to the shelf of doom for a while since I just have too much going on and I dind't want to mess with it's issues right now. I completed all the other stuff I had on the bench and needed to finish the Nell I started way back when the GB started. So opening it back up I'm hit with all those greenhouses and cannopy and all that masking. I had begun applying liquid mask and stoped half way through. I started completing that process tonight. I had also lost one of the engine gearboxes a while back and Hasegawa wanted $10 plus shipping for a replacement. I looked through all the older Japanese kits I recently purchased for just a few dollars and found some replacements. So, I'm back on track now. This and the Betty I bought a little while back will go well with the Prince of Wales I will be starting soon.

I have been an observer of this forum for quite some time now and thought I would finally try and jump onboard a group build.

Would it be possible to enter in with a 1/72 Hasegawa He111 H-6? I am really excited to get started and learn from the vast experience available from this forum.

After almost 3 months waiting for my decals for the F-1 I still have no joy getting them, ordering new will result in the same thing as the strike has created such a backlog that nothing is happening.

The F-9f was going well untill I broke off and lost the nose wheel strut. In the meantime I have started gluing bits together to look like a strut LOL
