Well I am going to finally going to start my Indian Hawker Hunter. I had to take a few weeks off. Was feeling a little burnt out. I really like that Defiant. Great looking kit. Your F4 is coming along nicely Bish.

I have forgotten just how small these 1/72 airplanes are. How in the world will I fit the rigging on this one I don't know. Anyway, that is a while away. here is the crew area for now

Looks like a funky airplane. The Revell Hunter 1/32 is one of my favorite a/c kits.

Here's my Spitfire cockpit.  The connection between the seat and it's frame is very tenuous, and it kept breaking off when I tried to push the bulkhead in.  It's actually a very creative way to engineer the cockpit.

I'm liking the little Swordfish.  Can't wait to see it finished.  The Hunter looks to be a pretty cool looking build as well.

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.

Have fun.

Time to call the Phantom done, sort of. I wanted to add some light weathering and after getting some more advice from PJ i added a Acrylic flat clkear coat and used some oils for some streaking. I normally do this on armour but this is a first for an aircraft. I was a bit wary as i have had a few issues in the past useing oil washes over enamels as on occasion the paint has been damaged no matter now many acrylics coats i apply. But this worked fine. I mainly applied them underneath with some lighter streaking on top.

I then added all the underside stores. While i have used the full stores points i have left those empty that would carry bombs and rocket pods.

One thing to add, i don't add nose weight to my builds as i secure them to a base anyway. Airfix gives no indication as to how much to add, which i know bugs some people. But this kit doesn't need it. I don't know if that normal for phantoms, but even if you put the tail right down it still drops back onto the nose wheel.

Then it was a coat of Alclad light sheen, all the masking was removed and the canopy and other final bits added and time to add it to the base.

Now the more observant will notice a lack of figures, including a driver for the tractor. This is not some early form of self driving vehicle, us Brits are good but not that good. I have once again been hit by the bain of aircraft dio builders, a lack of figures. I did look at the MJ-1 loader driver from the hasegawa set but he would need a lot of modification. There was a company which produced a set of RM carrier deck crew which included a driver but they went out of buisness a couple of years back. But another company, Air Graphics Models, are set to release a set of figures which i believe are the same ones produced by the other company. So rather than try and convert a figure and probably botch it up, i am going to wait until these are released, hopefully in the not to distant fututre. So, until then, i am calling this done. But i would be happy until there are some figures on there.

And there you have it. I have to add that i don't normally like pre made bases, but this carrier deck one is really nice, i would deffinetly get anotehr.

having just finished my HMS Traflagar a few days ago thats 2 RN builds done in less than a week and yet i still have not done my Army Apache, somthing very wrong there.

So next up the Mossie which i am going to make a start on tonight.

That came out a beauty, Bish!  The base looks great.  Make sure to you post pics when you get the figs.

What company makes the base?

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Hi Bish, fine looking Phantom in RAF RN livery!  Yes

The lack of figures does not take away the presentation.  Plenty of nice details to keep the viewer busy.

Jack

The Phantom turned out great Bish, how did you like the kit? I was looking at it yesterday and was curious about what you thought. It's a big box for 1/72.

I bought a Coastal kits Japanese carrier deck last year and was really impressed. Relatively inexpensive as well.

Cheers guys. Jack, tehre is deffinetly plenty to this kit.

Steve, i really liked it. There were a couple of fit issues, namely the centre section running along the top of the fuselage and having to clamp the nose together when joining the fuselage. My guess is it was down to user error, i am guessing i didn't fit the cockpit quite right. I have not seen anyone else mention it.

I did think the panel lines to deep when i first got it, but once painted up they look much better. I had noticed that with other builds and also noticed people avoided a panel line wash and i think thats a good idea.

It is a big box, and it needs it, theres a lot there and the decal sheet needs a lot of space as well. As well as getting the FGR.2 i am also planning on getting anotehr of these with some Xtradecals to do an RAF version in the green camo.

I agree, a nice price and spot on for Carrier decks.

I'm looking forward to the FGR2 as well and will probably get it after it comes out. I'm glad to here it went together well, as I would expect the new Airfix to do. I was very impressed with their Kate and P-40 Hawk.
