Thanks, Ed. I've got to get my compressor up and running as the cans of air are getting way expensive for regular use.

Mark,

Nice job on the Enterprise. Scottie would be proud!

Was going to attach the frame to the canopy and go from there on the F-5E but it wasnt working.  Glued the frame in and gave it a gloss coat to protect the decals.  I'll glue in the canopy and windshield tomorrow.

Hi Ed,

I've got two shelf queens that I plan to complete this year. They are the Italeri 1/35 Crusader Mk 1 and the Czech Model 1/32 T-33A Shooting Star that I've previously shown in this GB.

I'm just about to tidy up the wash. I started it  a while ago and I haven't touched it for about a year, before I picked it up a few days ago.

Here's that status of the T-33, I'm just going through rescribing and fixing all of the little things after completing the construction.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Monogram P-38 done as the F5 photo recon version. Used the Squadron vac form canopy which fit perfectly (the kit's interfered with the radio behind the seat).

decaled and striped

She's got legs!!!

And done.

Same kit-two versions, -38M and F5. *** Bong's -38J coming soon.

Thanks GT!!  I'll have to get another one and build the pathfinder version!  Or jump in a cauldron of boiling oil. Haven't decided which to do yet.Confused.

Actually they don't go together too bad once you get around some of the ill fitting pieces on the nose.  Just got a thing for Monogram kits!

Thats a really nice P-38. I like it a lot. Great job.

Here's the next update on my Italeri Crusader.

Since this photo was taken I've done some more refinement on the wash, as it was still too heavy in some places here.

Cheers

If I recall correctly is Testors ADC Gray Acrylic (FS16473) with a ton of Futur on it.  The decals are the Caracal ones and go on like a dream.  Kit is the Hasegawa kit and the front gear just isnt very robust.  Built two of these and both had the front leg break about the middle.

Okay, so finally getting down to business on this kit, and the first thing I find was the cockpit molding was bad, apparently not enough plastic injected into the mold (look at the seat headrests and strap details - crappy!).

So, I added some putty to the headrests and some lead foil for straps, hopefully it will look a little better:

Thats sucks about the short shot on the srue but looks like youve saved it.

I did the canopy masking and shot some middlestone on the spitfire.  Ill let it set for a few days and then I'll mask and spray some Dark Earth.

I would like to enter this GB Gents. I have this Monogram F-16A Prototype that I am building for my son. It's almost done but it's been on the shelf for like 9 months as the decals are crap, I got red paint all over the AIM-9 rails, which put me off, and I stupidly unmasked the canopy before I decided I needed another clear coat.

Plus, My Son has been asking me on a weekly basis if I have work on his airplane yet.. which I then  have to make up lame excuses as to why the answer is 'no'.

Well,  I finally got up to masking and painting the AIM9 rails. I realized that the decals are useable for a 9 year old's eyes, and he won't notice If I clear coat the clear pats either.  That being said, I am back in business on this one.

Ed,

Nice jobs on the P-3, Spit, and T-33!

Cbaltrin,

Really liking the looks of your prototype F-16!  Hopefully yours comes with the correct serial number for the aircraft. The 1/72 doesn't.

I thought I was going to finish up my Airfix 1/72 Me-110, but that hasn't gotten off the ground yet. I also got my dustbunny covered HobbyBoss P-38 down to work on, but I wasn't feeling it. So I looked at the stack of unfinished models and pulled out the 1/24 Tamiya Mini Cooper I started for 2018's Weekend Group Build.  Since it wound up here, it's obvious I didn't finish in time. When time ran out, I had the interior somewhat done

and the majority of the body done. Here it is installed on the chassis.

As I looked back at my build notes, they said that I had just finished painting the engine and the front subframe. Here they are, just about ready for installation.

The kit is the 1/24 Tamiya Mini Cooper Racer.  I don't know what series it's supposed to represent as the roll cage in the kit is a joke, even by 1960's standards, but it is a very nice kit. Hopefully this will go quick as I plan to enter her in next weekend's show in Shreveport.

I've got a 2020 Rolling Shelf of Doom canidate.

I bought this at Michael's for $7.99 and used a 40% of coupon seven years ago.

Talk about a crummy model. It has two steps, top of model and bottom of model.  The engine is at the very front of of the cowling.  It has no interior not even a hole for the pilot to sit in, just his head and shoulders to glue on.  Anyhow, I ordered a resin engine, cockpit and wheels for ten times the cost of the model, plus a vac-form canopy.  I will have to find them and take a picture.

I did cut the engine from the cowling, opened up cooling vents and the cockpit and added some detail to the wheel wells, a long time ago.

your shipmate,

Ziggy

Ziggy, welcome aboad.  Ive seen these on the shelves and didnt bite.  I didnt realise they were such a basic kit.
