After WW II. I was going to paint the upper hull, turrets and superstructure the same. I've seen other models painted that way with the WW II fittings the same.

More in line with Korea, I would like to keep the wood deck.

Nick: Your PT boat is really looking the job! Great work!!!

Mongoose: That mast looks... well it gives me a headache to look at it- amazing job there! I'd have half the parts sticking to me and the rest of it smashed and in the garbage can...

...hate to admit it but the kids were making fun of me last night because I'd superglued a chunk of my hair together in not 1 but 2 spots Oops How did I even do that, I couldn't answer the question...

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

I would go with overall Haze Grey for post war.

I know these are museum ship pics but pretty detailed.

The sad part is it's true... (sigh)

Mongoose: I wouldn't worry too much about a little superglue in your hair after you accomplished all that. It fact I wouldn't have any hair left if I tried that, and I have little enough as it is.

Bill: Somehow I missed you before- excellent job grafting the two hull together!!!

Feels like it’s really coming together. This morning I’m painting everything that goes on the deck. Did some weathering under the hull. Then the afternoon should come about to decals and railings. Close to done!

A little far off for a pic but wanted to show all the little Pontos boxes and parts.

Here’s some clear yellow under beige brown for weathering. I think the matt clear will blend this all nicely...here’s hoping:-)

Clever idea, looking forward to seeing how the beige and clear yellow work out.

Well, I’m starting on the 1/144 destroyer. After doing a bit of research, YIKES! The ships that went to Taiwan look absolutely NOTHING like what’s in the kit. So I decided she’s gonna be an OOB project.

Got the hull together, the shaft pieces glued in and puttied. Since I have a rambunctious cat in the house, I also glued in some 1/4 oz weight strips I had laying around from the days of building the race cars with my son. Wow, that was a few years ago!

That should make it a bit tougher to knock over.

Straycat looks like pinewood derby car weights from my kids Cub Scout days! Now that’s a decent size Destroyer. Gonna watch this for sure. Shame it’s so. Far off though.

this reminds me of the big Lindberg motorized blue devil destroyer. Built it as a kid. I still remember getting to go to the hobby store after dentist visits. Worked alot of chores and delivered papers at maybe 12 to buy it. Epic.

That's fantastic Mongoose. You may be the first to pull into port for shore leave.

Thanks Guys. coming down the home stretch. Will definitely finish this week. I have some details to pick out with a wash and a flat coat to put on after that. She‘s looking good adorned for the Homecoming with rigging, handrails, and her two big brothers on the helo pad to protect her honor...

And here’s today’s favorite screw up. Not sure where my prop went, lost in transportation haha, but the local club meet is today so i have to have something. I sketched out a prop blade and cut 5 out of cardstock. Glued them to a plastic sprue with a rounded end and it appears to do the part if you look at it from a distance definitely found myself behind the 8 ball

Work continues assembling structures above deck. In doing some research I came across this cool pic; what a monster.

Gosh, you forgot the stack!

That's a beautiful model, and distinctive without any black topside.

Nice save on the prop too.

You can probably find a replacement on Shapeways.

Also, if your PE set does not come with a radar, there are some nice generic sets that work just fine for a great price. It might take a month to get them though Huh?

Admiral,  I can’t wrap my brain around this. SPS-49 is what I am looking for. Does the PE you linked me to have it? I don‘t see it. Below is what I purchased and unless I need to combine pieces somehow, I don’t think I have it. The radar that Mongoose made looks the animal I need, I think.

LOL...But I keep doing the same thing (PE) and keep expecting different results (something besides a bunch of brass only fit for the trash bin).

Perfect definition, but we still stay after it.

Crown and Mongoose-

Nice work on builds in the space of a month and a half.  The rest of us are going to have to get after it.
