Real G

Argh, I overslept and am now stumbling around on my sister's Apple laptop (I'm a Windows guy).

Okay, so Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope everyone got cool swag, and from the photos, it looks like that is the case.  So without further ado, here is my SS gift:

Thanks Secret Santa!  This will be my first muscle car and I really like the front end.  But what I especially like is, well I'll have Woody help out:

The "Mad Max" butterfly scoop really sets off the car IMHO.

I haven't wached any of the "Fast & Furious" movies, but I like the look of this car, so it goes into the build queue for 2020!

Now the inevitable question about aftermarket hood pins, PE badgework and keyholes...

That is a very cool kit. I have almost added this one to the stash numerous times. I've seen it built and it looks great. I'm totally jelly now.

Looks like some interesting subjects will be in store this year!  I opened my present earlier today, and just getting around to forum business now that the house cleared.  I received what looks to be a fascinating subject, of something I knew existed (Canadian armor), but never looked into.  Smile

I've already started reading the instructions, and am looking forward to perhaps crack into this during my time off this week!

Thanks Santa!  I am very pleased!

Looks like we have some super sick kits this year. I have to say that this is one of the best list of kits I've seen yet. This will be a stellar year for all of us with these builds.

A special thanks to my SS for sending my a kit I didn't even know existed. A Trumpeter 1/35 Pz.Sfl.IVa DIcker Max or 10.5 cm K gepanzerte Selbstfahrlafette.

Looks like a tank destroyer, I love those. I will have to do some homework on this one. It appears to be early war, so Panzer grey, super cool. The Germans really did have some of the coolest weapons, both in power and looks. Thanks again, great choice.

BK

Hope you like roadwheels...it's a varient of a Panzer IV.  Big Smile

Lewbud,

Thanks!  I wanted belts and pulleys for Mad Max’s car, so I’ll be ordering some additional stuff!  Already thinking how to separate the front bumper from the grill to get exact paint separation.  Aaarrgh unto the AM rabbit hole I once again go!

And thanks to Brandon and Steve for running the 2019 Secret Santa!  Like Schwarzenegger, I’ll be back!

Ya, the kit comes with both rubber/vinyl tracks and indi-tracks. I'm gonna go the hard way, cuz why not? I don't mind complex difficult kits, what I don't like are garbage poor fit fight you all the way kits. I like kits with alot of parts. I got an M1070 with trailer for Xmas, 1500 pieces. So I can place my armored dozer on it when it's done. I don't mind big kits, I actually crave them.

RealG,

If you look at the PE set, you can see some grille pieces, allowing you to paint them and then super glue or epoxy them in place. Glad I could help.

Sorry I'm late to the party....my kids and family kept me busy all day yesterday.  LOL!

So there I was....passing out gifts to the kids.  Longingly looking at the one gift for me in the corner...waiting to be opened.  Kids gifts are done...wrapping paper settling from the frenzy and I reach over and pick it up.  No time for guessing now...just open the bloody thing!  LOL!  And here is the awesome gift I receieved!!

Oh yeah!!!!  I was giddy as a kid!  It looks to be a beautiful kit!  The detail is super, Cartigraf decals, and about 6 versions to pick from!!  I've checked out the sprues about 10 times now.  LOL!

THANK YOU SANTA!!  You rock!!  This will probably be started today or tomorrow at the latest.  I'm figuring out which version I want to do and then make sure I have the paints for it.  I am leaning towards the Sep '42 G-2/Trop one.  I'm drawn to the desert color.  LOL!

This years GB is crazy cool!  Not a bad kit has been had on here and I am looking forward to seeing each one come to life!

Thank you again Brandon for hosting...THANK YOU Santa for a tremendously awesome kit to build!

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that the new year is a blessed and happy one for all!

Anyway, my Santa delivered in a big way.  This happens to be one of my absolute favorite kits.  Way to go Santa!!!!

You can't go wrong with a 109 in my book. There are endless kits and schemes to build. I haven't seen any Academy kits done so this will be extra fun.

The Mig 21 is super cool. Weekend edition kits are supposed to be quite good and quick builds. I'm definately thinking of adding this to the stash.

The dark side has cookies!! Plus I have the building bug in a big way atm and I need to satisfy that need. This is now my super slow time of year so I will retire to my bench and come out with the flowers start to pop.

Here is the box that Santa dropped off.

As soon as I get paints for it, I'll get going. Nothing on hand for Japanese colors.

EDIT- Just ordered out the AK IJNset and a bottle of their thinner. We'll see how I like that paint, as it's not available locally.

They are supposed to be quick.  Supposed.  I really Like them.  There are times where you just don't need all the AM stuff.  That said I usually can't resist something in resin or PE.  Good news here is I found a Brassin cockpit set for this kit in my spares bin.

Lewbud,

Ordered!!!  Thanks again for the heads up!  Yes

A friend builds muscle cars, so now I have something to work on when he and the other guys come over for hobby night (aka the monthly Krab Kave meeting of the East Oahu Radical Splinter Faction Group).

Opened up the box and found this:

Looks like a fun build. I will be trying to finish this for the twelve days challenge. Don't fear though Santa, I will still do my best and only cut corners that were not molded properly.

I have one of these in my stash, different box art, but the same kit. I am looking forward to seeing how this builds. Looks really nice.

Nice SD,

I built the same kit, diffrent box earler this year. Nice kit and a fairly quick build. You should be able to finish it for the 12 Days.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Hello everyone!

There are the kits that I received from my secret santa.

Academy 1/35 Panzer IV and Trumpeter 39 (H) self propelled gun.

The academy kit is going to be built out of the box and the trumpeter kit might get some upgrades to the interior and PE set for the outside detail.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the gifts. The trumpeter kit, even though older looks to have nice detail, thought the academy looks to be a old, similar to the old tamiya motorized kits. I'll be using that as a painting kit, no PE for it. The trumpeter kit will probably receive a Photo etch set to add extra detail, also looking it up royal model (I think) makes a PD set for the armor superstructure.

Man there are some great builds happening here!  Awesome work everyone!

I did get to start the 109 yesterday!  So far it is a wonderful kit!  Instructions are easy, fit has been beautiful, and the version I'm doing is looking good!  LOL!

It is a super nice kit and is going together quite quickly.  I'm still in the process of moving into a new house, so I'm hoping to figure out how..and where...I'm going to set up the paint booth so I can AB this beauty.  Just a few more steps and I'll be ready to mask and paint!  Enjoy.

Steve and Bobby, you two are hauling "A" through these kits. I still haven't cracked mine open yet. The F-14 is hoggin' the whole bench atm. Hopefully, in a week or so I can jump into my kit. Man, we are gonna have some great builds this year.
