I love the idea here Steve. Just no idea what I want to build. Hold on and let me percolate a bit and hopefully I'll come up with something.

I dug out the Model Graphix issue (Dec 1987, vol.14) that had the flying air-battleships. That was my first issue of MG mag!  The comic was titled “Sentoki (fighter) Veltro”, which is the plane which launched from the airship.  That’s gonna be my build.

BTW it seems the airship, the Andrea Doria, is Italian.  The bad guys look German but have cockades on their aircraft.

Man, there is so much cool stuff in that MG issue!  Too many things to be relevant here; full disclosure to be in a separate “miscellaneous ramblings” thread.

Forensic study will now commence on the “Veltro”, in preparation for the GB.

Hi,

Although I haven't done a good job completing some previous group builds, I've got an idea for a scratchbuild/3D printed Diesel Punk type air plane I'd like to try.

I have a few car kits that are missing parts that would work well for that. I was thinking about that or a "space" sailing ship or retro futuristic plane ......

Sounds great G, I'll look forward to that.

I've decided that I'm going to create some sort of Mad Max crazy desert rat post apocoliptic war machine death trap thingy. Out of what? I have no idea.

You are on one of the ones I was thinking of when I dreamed up this GB.

Aw Steve, thanks!

OK, OK I’ll join.  I wanted an Adler or Veltro since I saw them in the mag back in 1987. I think it was the Veltro that launched out the side of the airship - I’m thinking that would make a nice mini display.

Time to dig out the Model Graphix issue - I searched online but my Google-Fu is weak!

Wow, is that locomotive CGI or a physical model?

I don't know G, but it does look cool. You are on one of the ones I was thinking of when I dreamed up this GB.

Chad and Brandon I'd love to have you guy onboard. Brandon, you were saying you wanted to get out of your comfort zone, well this is one way.

Wow, is that locomotive CGI or a physical model?  I was just stopping by to see what was going on, but looking at that thing got me excited!  I didn’t think there was anything steam punk that I wanted to build, but you got my rusty, oblong gears turning.

I’m going to go through my old model mags and see if I can find the comic that had the Royal Navy using flying dreadnoughts, carrying open cockpit rocket fighters that launched like the Sparrowhawks from the Akron and Macon.  Actually they came out the side of the ship like bombs from a Sunderland.  The Germans flew a similar fighter called the Adler (Eagle).  Let me do a deep dive to see if I can dredge up the resources to join the GB.

Being as how its open ended I think I can work something in. I've got plenty of spares. This is a good chance to get rid of some stuff that is just taking up space.

7 months ago I brought this idea up, received several thumbs up and said I'd revisit the idea again in November.

Well here I am again, your frendly neighborhood off the wall GB guy.

Steampunk, dieselpunk, cyberpunk, biopunk, atompunk, stonepunk, do you feel lucky…punk! Retrofuturistic, postapocalyptic you get the idea. Think Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, Metropolis, HYDRA, the Borg etc., etc.
Anything would go with just one rule, no out of the box, at least without adding something to it. You must add something to it. Not just a machinegun gun or something small, I mean let yourself go. Grab a battleship turret and add it to a car along with armor and a cattle guard. Put tracks on a locomotive, helo rotor on a sailing ship with Ion engines. Don’t just put German markings on an At-At, put wings on it as well. If you want Space 1899, cool. The Arizona as a pre-Dreadnaught, we'd love to see it.
This group build is for those who use their imagination.
No rivet counters here, no wrong camo, no wrong hatch placement, the antenna will always be in the right place, nothing will be wrong.
If you have a box of parts and ever asked “I wonder what I can use this for?” or “I can probably use this somewhere” well, here’s the answer to those questions. An exhaust pipe can be a steam pipe, an F-16 intake can be a smokestack. This is the chance to clean out that old parts box and have fun.
The start date would be Jan 1 2020, the end? I don’t know yet, our imagination is always working. We’re modelers, that’s what we do.

So come on y’all, what do ya think?
