I've noticed several items are out of stock. Had I foreseen the manufacturing, shipping and other factors associated with the Covid I would have stocked up.

I haven't built a ship or sub in 45 years and I have nothing in the stash, but I could come up with something. At least by 2022!

Let’s get this party started. I’m posting my obligatory sprue shots first. I haven’t photographed all the extra 3D gear I’ve purchased over the years but I’ll get that done tomorrow along with a shot of the reference materials I’ll be using. I’m tempted to over gun this puppy although I’ve not found any references so far about the Kriegsmarine doing this with their boats, but what the heck! I’ll also be mixing and matching decals just for grins and because I want to.

I’m building the Revell 1/72 Schnellboot S-100 with Flak 38. I have both the Griffon PE set although not the top of the line one as well as the Eduard PE set. I’ll probably not use the ArtWok decking as it doesn‘t give any depth to the model deck. I have a boatload of 3D parts that cost a pretty penny to say the least and way over the cost of the model.

So without further ado, let’s do this thing,

Maybe because I have so many kits that I can spend my money on AM nowadays. Becides, the wife doesn't get as frazzeled what some PE comes in Vs a kit. PE means I'm working on a kit, a new kit is just an addition to the stash.

So here goes.

This kit cost about $ 300 ten years ago. Kind of a rare Cabernet on the shelf thing.

As for GB's I get aboard on, I usually join only when there's a kit that fits, as opposed to buying a new one.

Box art. Combrig is a good resin kit company Their catalogue is very extensive and their kits are pretty flawless.

Someone has been living in here since this kit has been out in the barn for the last 8 years. But the castings are intact.

Instructions are intact.

A little PE and bags of resin parts.

Nice GM, I am really interested in your build.  Is that hull banana shaped as bad as it seems to look in the photo?

Freetime annouced they got the Combrig Scharnhorst in stock in 1/700 scale.  I am tempted to get it.  I had a lot of fun building the Combrig Kansas.

As sorta promised, here are the extra goodies and reference material I'll be using.

The 3D stuff is from Shapeways seller IRON-Models. He has a great selection of Schnellboot stuff for the Revell 1/72 kit and the Italeria 1/35 kit. If you want to know what something is just ask, I'm not going to list themnow but I will when I install them.

Thanks Steve. One of the torpedos, just the aft end, actually fits into one of the loading tubes. So I figured it would be better to get two more torpedos for the after slings and with one supposedly already loaded.

The detail of the 3D parts is just mind blowing. A while back I picked up a 3" deck gun and Oerlicons from Shapeways and I was amazed how well made the items were. I believe they say to use acrylics so not to get a reaction from the plastic. 

I have a boat like your and the old Airfix high bridge one in the stash. The props look good. Were they expensive? 

PJ, if they are the same props i used, i think they were about £20. I spent about 30 all up with the props and the gun shieled. And i have to agree, those were my first 3D parts and they were amazing. I took your advice and gave them a coat of future before priming and painting and 2 months later there has been no reaction.

Wow, I even wonder if I have a ship that is German.

I remember the picture you sent me. I used a 1/144 4" and three 20mms for my Gato build. It opened my eyes to the possibilitlies of not using as much PE... rrrriiiggghhhttt. 

The total cost for the props came out to $33.00 for the smooth version. I might have gone with the the smoothest but I wanted to save $.50. Don't ask.
