John: Fantastic work there on the mottling!

PJ: The cockpit looks perfect!

Mustang: Great job on your cockpit too!

Frank: Love that! The pre-shading and camo look perfect! I want pretty much the same scheme on my 109- I hope mine looks half as good as yours.

Thanks, guys. Sometimes painting can be kinda stressful but when it's done and looks about right -- whew! That's over. lol.

Did all the decals yesterday, not a lot for this scheme. Now I begin to do some detailing.

Haven't started detailing yet. There's another Mustang on the bench right now. The decals are from Aero Master Bf 109E BoB...Eagle Day, 9/JG26.

finished the camo.  will need to weather it once the canopy is on.  had to make the masks by hand,  new sharp No. 11 blade works great on the yellow frog tape.

The builds are shaping up gents, great job.

Got the fuselage taped up to see how things are fitting. Some plumbing will be next to busy things under the hood.

Thanks guys. Not quite ready to seal up the fuselage yet. Gonna leave it open for better wiring access. The nose guns were painted with Humbrol Metal Cote black enamel, lightly polished when dry producing a realistic metallic sheen.

Ernie: That pit is shaping up very nicely. Lot's of eye candy and it's almost ashamed to see that much work covered up by the fuselage. Can't wait to see some engine detailing going on here.

John: Dude....you are blowing right through that build of yours in a rather good fashion. Wow!!! Awesome method for painting those mottle patterns on the sides of the fuselage.

Boris: Great to have you in here and am looking forward to some build progress on that 109.

Frank: Your progress is looking great so far. You painting method, while producing fantastic results , leaves me hoping that there'll be no fuselage to wing gap when you join the two units. This is in no way a "hit" on your build at all. Just couldn't help but wonder.

All: I am still moving forward with cockpit progress on mine but nothing worthy of photos yet. I am hoping to have enough done to post some pics by Friday.

Yeah, Mustang, the fit is nice and tight. I checked the fit before I started painting. It was strange to paint the airplane like I did, being so used to painting the entire airplane as a unit. Painting this BoB camouflage, it just seemed right.

I figured as much Frank. Judging from the quality of the paint job I took you for the type of builder that would've checked that out beforehand.

Wow!!! That canopy painting DID come out great John!!! Nice!!!

Well folks.....trying to get some work done on my build but this morning was a no-go after putting up with a barking dog all night. Just couldn't get out of bed this morning to make anything happen.

I might be able to work a miracle tomorrow morning though.

yes I hand cut them,  used the yellow frog tape and a very sharp/new blade and a bright light for a backlight so I could see the frame lines through the tape.

the yellow frog tape (home depot paint department) looks, acts amd feels just like the tamiya yellow tape.

John: That looks friggin' perfect! I generally don't get results that good with even pre-cut masks.

Mustang: I know that feeling... Been ill the last two weekends but hope to get a little something done on my 109 this one.

Excellent. I look forward to doing it. Bought it about 14 years ago and never had a chance to get to it. Its one of the oldest 72 scale German aircraft in my stash, so its time has come. Just finishing up a 72 scale Airfix FW190d, then I will start the 163.
