G'day Tweety1,

Yep it is a Nissan Skyline, handy to have in the parking space, for photographing models. [sadly it's not mine, it belongs to a friend]. The 'tank' is the Centurion Mk V / I, it is my own resin conversion, [might get to finishing it one day], the other is an M113a1 FSV 'Saladin' [also not finished, which is also my resin conversion], the Black Hawk has been in the collection for a few years, it's base was a cutting board, which I've but different model railway scienery stuff on, to make it look similar to a field.

Well, I have just found out the decal set for my Mosquito MkII flown by Charles Scherf is out of production - big bummer!!! Back to the drawing board. My entry will still be a Mosquito but I may go back to the MkVI variant as flown in Borneo on 1945 finished in Alclad II.

These photo's are posted here for your benifit of the 22 Sqn RAAF A20a Boston III's, A28-7 DU-H is the aircraft 'Bill' Newton flew on the mission that he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross, he flew A28-3 on the mission he was shot down, he was photographed standing in front of A28-15 DU-Q.
I'm NOT entering this model in the group build, it's built for the RAAF OTS at Point Cook, they pick it up in 4 days. I can supply the resin products that I market for this aircraft, but the cowlings for the A20a are done by REDROO, the A20c did not have the cooling slats in the cowling, but did have the tropical filters fitted.

Aussie CGB what a cool idea?

What will i build i have so many aussie subjects in my to do pile?? Will probably build 1 or 2 group A Serrias Johnson/bowe bathurst 89 and a moffat one from the same year. Also deepeneding on time?? (always an enemy) may build 0nr or two of the R32 nissians diven to victory at bathurst in 91,92. If any one knows were i can get reference material for any of these would be a great help? nicaloma does 1/43 kits you have are cool???
I want one of each of them ?

Trev try to find the Bathurst annuals produced after each race or even the videos. The only reference material I have for my R32 build was the race program for that year. If you're using the Tamiya base kit there are several small but subtle changes you have to do - none are difficult.

As for the 43rd kits they're Aussie made by Model Cars Australia in Sydney. I got them years ago (along with the Brock A9x Torannas) so I doubt whether they'd be easy to locate now.

Mate this is what you asked about. It's one of two RAAF Mustangs, this particular one is that of W.Cdr Lou Spence, this is the aircraft he was killed while attacking the target. It has been built for the RAAF OTS as part of their project and is finished in the Alclad paint's, [This was built by one of my co founder's using the Tamiya kit]. My one has been returned for repair [as it is on loan to a WW II museum, it's the aircraft of Sqn.Lr Cox of 84 Sqn RAAF at Ross River Qld]. This is one of the REDROO decal sheets for the RAAF Mustangs and was built from the Hasegawa kit

Rob, is there much differance between the Aussie Mustang and the American one?

Externally or internally.

I'm curious, seeing as how we altered the Sabre, as to whether we made changes to the Mustangs also, I'd like to get some PE detail, but if it's not accurate, then there would be no point.

Am I correct in assuming these are 1/48 scale projects?

Yes both are 48 scale, the Korean era is the Tamiya Kit, the RAAF WW II [which incidently has been damaged, by the museum it was on loan to] is the Hasegawa kit, with an Aires detail set added to it.

The other questions you asked I ferret threw my stuff and see what I can find in the PE for you.

This is what I found in relation to the CAC Mustangs:

The 200 Australian built Mustang's comprised 80x CA-17 {Mk-20}[A68-1 to 80], these were built up from sets of imported components.
28x CA-18 {Mk-22}[A68-81 to 94 and 187 to 200]: 26x CA-18 {Mk-21}[A68-95 to 120]: 66x CA-18 {Mk 23}[A68-121 to 186]. All were based on the P-51d, with some minor modifications, the Mk 22 was a Tactical Reconn version, with two camera's in the rear fuselage, the Mk 23's featured the Rolls Royce rather than the Packard version of the Merlin engine.

All of the CAC Mustangs had the Dallas Hood, all had shrouded exhausts, internal and external apearences was not changed. Both the Tamiya and Hasegawa 48 kits give you a choice of hoods.

Those of you building the Group A, Bathurst 1000, cars for the Group Build, I have a friend [from my motorsport's officiating days, we both did Bathurst and Adelaide G.P] who was a CAMS motorsports photographer, [like me he stuck with the model building], if you require the photo's of a particular car, let me know and I'll track them down from him, they may cost a few bucks.

I'm presently coming to grips with building a new roll cage for the Merc 190. I think I have plenty of photos for the exterior of the Hulme car.

Ok fellas heres a progress shot of the Hasegawa Spit V111 i'ts not that good a shot but i only had 2 shots left and this was the best of the 2.
The Tamiya Spitfire MK1 is at the same level but i didn't have another film.

Both Spitfires have now been joined up and have the wings on.

Lobbie you mencened that you had access to photos that could be of use to some of us in the CGB Big Smile [:D]

. I would greatly appreciate it if you could see if your contact had any interior photos of the 89 serrias of Johnson/bowe and the Moffat ANZ one as well. Also if he has any interior pix of 91,92 skylines it would be a great help if you could get hold of any of these pix.

I'll get in touch with my friend, in regard to yout questions. With the Seria's Moffat's were LHD, the Johnson ones had a different wheel. Do you have the DJR wheels for the Seria or the RHD dash. I can supply the resin set if you need them.

Thanks Rob - I will try the Clear Blue. Buggered if I can work out why my photo keeps disappearing. I am using Yahoo Photo's and things seem to be ok for a while but then it looks like Yahoo resets the URL and the link is broken. Looks like I will have to do some more investigating.
