Need help from my fellow canuckleheads

I've got 2 sherman kits in my stash that I want to do up in british columbia regiment markings. I can get the decals I need from ultracast, but I'm having a hard time finding some reference materials. Does anyone know of a book or website I can check out?

Trying to get an M4A4 is a good alternative if you can't get specific pics.  What's in your stash?

I've got a firefly and a sherman 3. What I have been able to find is that both types were used by canadian forces in Northwestern france in '44. I've got the general unit markings, but I haven't decided on specific units. I'm just looking for a general referance to show placement of unit markings and some specific examples from the british columbia regiment ( the 28th armoured regiment, part of the 4th canadian armoured division )

Try Barry Beldam's website for marking placement.  I took a quick look and found a colour profile for a British Columbic Sherman Ic, so there might be more.

Having a mixture of Shermans and Fireflies was the norm for Canadian tank regiments for NW Europe.   The only thing that changed was that initially troop leaders were given the 17pdr.  When the Germans realized these up-gunned tanks needed to be dealt with first,  allied officers were being lost at an alarming rate, so Fireflies were assigned to lower troop ranks (one Firefly per troop, but eventually two would be available).

Being the junior regiment of 4th CAD, all their Shermans would have white 53 on a red background.

The regiment would be made up of A, B, and C squadrons, along with the regimental HQ squadron.

regards,

Jack
