SOME QUICK 1/72 BUILDS AND FILTERS

TRUMPETER BTR-80 is done for now TAMIYA buff and ja green using silly putty. tires are eng.ne gray wash. there will be some environment later when i pair it up w/ SS-25 but haven't decided on a season  though i am leaning toward a winter scene w/ an SS-25 bunker. i jazzed up the mufflers a bit with light rust, metallic gray and nato black washes. washed the whole vehicle with a prussian blue and medium gray mixed oil wash. you can see the color blue.  the blue with the snow may better convey cold. now how to capture diesel exhaust fumes so i can have a smell attached to the visual.

AIRFIX 1/76 MK-1 FEMALE. MMA sand with dark green and panzer brown. i did my first freehand airbrush camo on this. i washed it with medium gray, followed by yellow ochre, medium green, and burnt umber just to try stuff out. in GB ww1 and BRAILLE SCALE are pics after each wash to show the effect.

had to CYA the track on. weathered it with TAMIYA dark rust followed by black powders. it wouldn't be that rusty but it looks better. i did NOT spray it with mud or dirt. to be realistic the whole thing would be mud. the camo blended much better with the oil washes. it's just sitting on the base so i know there are gaps under the track.

first pic is the new base which is used coffee grounds mixed with charcoal ash.

hey DOOG

thanks. really getting into this scale which is bad considering the 1/35 stash.

hard to believe i started using oil washes just over a year ago. now they are just part of the weathering station. picked up a T-55 mine roller and MK-1 MALE yesterday. of course the craziest braille scale i have is DORA.

Wayne, I really like 1/72. It's a nice break from the "big boys",and you can do so many cool little things with displaying them and they don't take up a ton of space.

The biggest thing I have is a Revell 1/72 modern German tank transporter. I'm going to build it with a Leopard on it. Should be pretty cool.

You can get some insane dio kits now to put alongside your 1/72 kits. I have some houses from MiniArt that are unreal!
