Thanks for jumping in there G. Ye, i have had some issues. I had to take my laptop in last week to get the disk drive fixed so i can load my new printer. I have been able to get on the site from work but not log in so could notpost, very frustrating. But now for some reason they have added Firefox and it let me log in. But of course this happens the day i am picking my laptyop up, typical. It will no doubt be a day or so before i am fully up and running back home and can post some pics of the base, which has really come along, probably in part to me not being able to get on here. But at least now i can pop in during breaks at work.

dorian, welcome aboard. I usually apply future with an airbrush. You said it looks to glossy, so i am woundering why you areapplying it, as its meant to be glossy. I apply future, or at least i did as i have now moved away from it to AlcladAqua clear, as i use a gloss enamel paint, so i don't need to gloss the vehicle for decals but protect the paint from the harsh solvents during oil and enamel washes. On the rare occasion i use matt Acrylics for armour, i just applya drop of future witha brush to the area where the decals will go. Armour kits tend not to have a lotof markings so i don't see the reason to gloss the whole thing.

Soit really comesdown to what reason you are applying it.

DM, ye, i had thought about that one. The only argument against it isthat the kit does not have you fit those spare tracks, they are for thetank version. But given the Germans fitted spare tracks to most of their vehicles, i see no reason why they would not on this, and thats the only place to put them. Yes, they would be heavy, and unlike on the tank, there is no where to stand on the vehicle to take them off. So as i have fitted it, its certainly another option for that device. So it could be any one of 3 or possably all 3 reasons.

Thanks again guys, and hopefully full service will be resumed shortly, i am almost finished on this, will be nice to get this beast wrapped up.

Time to sow what i have been doing the ast couple of weeks. Firstly, the figures. These were finished off with an oil wash ovr the camoflage and all the missing bits added. Once they are on the base, i will use some pigments to tie them better into the base.

And that base has been my main focus. It has ben slow going, but i have just been making this up as i go along and i am pretty pleased with the results.

The road and path were painted with tamiya German grey mixd with a little black. The path was then dry brush with oils and for the cobbles, i took a selection of grey and brown oils and went over individual stones.

The house was painted Humbrol brick red with was followed with Humbrol Pale stone for the mortar. This was the most time tedious bit. I then mxed differant batches of brick red with various oils, orange, browns and so on,and went over the bricks.

The inside also got some attention. Starting down stairs i added real cloth carpet from Reality in scale. This is really great product you can feel the texture. I then added some skirting boards with was a thin strip of balsa painted gloss white, followed by the wallpaper, also from Reality in scale.

After painting upstairs a light green, i added the ceiling/floor between the ground and first floor. For the lath and plater ceiling i use balsa wood, styene strip for the lath and celluclay for the plaster.

For the rendered wall i wanted a yellow/green colour. There are a lot of houses around where i live with coloured plaster on the outside walls, many in this colur. I was going to try and mix my own but when i was looking through my Tamiya colours i spotted there yellow green which i had forgotten i had. Its not a colour i use often. And it was perfect.

And thats it for now. Just got to add the rubble and some final bts and pieces. The small open patch to one side of the house will be a small bit of garden. Going to add some grass and flowers to that, then a small bit of fence. Should be wrapping this up soon.

Bish, that is looking great. The tank is huge. On those extra parts, I was thinking of it as a way to assist in the removal and attachment of the side skirts. Those things look pretty stout.

Thanks Stephan. Ye, it is a bit big isn't it. I have the figure in it now and have test fited the vehicle with the other figures on the base. It even amazed me at how big it looks with those.

The side skirt option is definatly one possability. Of the 3 mentioned, including that one, they are all feasible.

Ok, time to get this beast wrapped up. I have had the base finished for a few days but have been leaving it all to dry and making sure i have not missed anything.

Before the final pics, heres a few of the completed base. I didn't want to go to over board with the rubble. I wanted a damaged single house rather than a flattened street. I started out with some celluclay to give some bulk to the rubble and give me somthing to attach other bits with. I mixed in some fine pumice with the celluclay and even where it shows throug i rather like the effect. For the rest of the rubble, i got a couple of pots of Urban Debris from Dio Dump in the Netherlands which included bricks with mortar, fine rubble dust, dusty planks and load sof other bits. To this i added lots more lose bricks, stained wood and some left overs from the window frames and skirting boards.

I was realy pleased with the end result, especially for my first urban dio. Sorry about the pics. My pop up photo booth is not really designed to handle stuff this big. I am in the process of converting a spare bedroom into a dedicated model den and hopefully i can set up a better photo area. If so, i may take some new pics then.

And then just to add the big guy himself. I used some rubble pigments on the running gear as well as on the figures to tie them in with the base.

Convention would probably have this build side on, with the house behind the vehicle. But very early on i decided i wanted this head on. Before i added the side framing, which is determined by where the front is, i did some checking on the layout, and yep, definatly front on.

And there it is. Really pleased with how this turned out. As always, some lessons learned and ideas for improvment next time round.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas. I am really pleased with the camo uniforms, the black is a nice addition, so a big thanks to Jack for that. Now i just need some where to put this, i think i might need a reinforced shelf, this thing is damn heavy.

I gotta say that is some of the coolest, excellent rubble/debris I've ever seen modeled. I can't tell I'm not looking at a period photo (except the background outside of the base). The model and figures are, of course, impecable, but the backdrop is outstanding.

That really is some increadible work.  The E-100 and the infantry certainly look mean, and the building, the street and the building present a scene of desperation.  It is as if the Second World War in Europe lasted a year or two more.

I am very impressed by the front facia of the building.  I've been working on a brick building from Verlinden for the past week or so.  I've been happy with my results deliverred by varying shades of washes and dry brushing.  I think your brick facia looks increadible, and much better than my own.  I will look closely at your pictures to learn a thing or two.  Thanks for posting.  I think I can learn from your work.

Thnaks ridle, its much appreciated.I think it was the raw umber oil wash after everything else was done which really did the trick.  And please post some pics of your building, i am sure i can pick up a few things. We don't see many building dio's, so it will me nice to swap ideas.
