I purchased this Vallejo paint set to see if I could weather some aircraft but I never got around to it.  I'm glad I waited as now I can utilize this weathering kit for the Leopard build.  This will be my first time that I've used anything like this.  I just hope I don't screw it up!  LOL!

Few easy things you can fix here if you want. Take some sheet plastic and cover the holes in the bottom and sides and then putty it over and sand it even. Tamiya used to put a motor and battery box in some of those kits and the holes are left over from then.

Toshi that looks pretty good. As I told WannaBeAFarmBoy you can drybrush the mud with a tan paint to give the impression of the outer coat of mud drying out. Looks like in your weathering set there's a few lighter shades there.

Toshi, I am watching you! It has been well over 55 years since I built a piece of armor; so you will have to show me how! So far it is looking good!

Nice work so far  That is a great "learner kit". Perfect for trying new tecniques or ideas on. A simple kit to have fun with and not fret about if something gets mucked up. 

I messed up and forgot to apply the decals prior to weathering.  I was so excited in experimenting with the Vallejo weathering kit, it slipped my mind amoung many other items!  LOL!  At least I didn't weather the turret yet so that's going to get the decals then the weathering.

Other than that, this is a nice and fun change from always building aircraft.  It's a whole different genre and requires a unique set of skills although as I've learned from you all, everything is relevant.  Thank you all for for the read and reply!

I've been browsing through the armour thread to get some footing into what I'm doing.  Forum members of the armour thread do some outstanding work!  It amazes me!  WOW!  

So far at this point, it was a very nice as you said; "Simple kit", but I did mess up and forget to apply the decals prior to weathering.  So that's my goal today.  Apply the decals and try to blend them in with the rest of the Leopard tank.  Thank you so much for always looking in on my builds and making sure I'm heading in the right direction.  I really do appreciate your help on this matter!

Weathering, like any other thing we do is all a matter of practice. Just like in aircraft modelling, you want to look up at least a few reference pictures on Google just to see if there is any way you'd like to make your build look.

For you're first use of that weathering kit, you did a good job of utilizing it. I've been using those washes from that set for months and there is almost nothing you can't use them on lol. That green wash is perfect for cockpits, for instance. The brown wash works very well for dity pit floors as well. Depends on what look you're after.

You'll find that set will only enhance the rest of your builds if you get creative.  ;)

As for the color, I used Vallejo Model Color (That's all Hobby Lobby carries, they don't have Model Air.  That's too bad but I just thin out the Model Color with Vallejo AB Thinner) German Camoflauge Dark Green 70.979.  Then in the back of the Vallejo kit, is the directions.  I just followed the directions and played it from there.

I even blew pigment with a little binder through the AB.  I think I'm not supposed to do that but it worked.  I'm just surprised my AB didn't get clogged with the dry pigment!  LOL!  I just was not thinking!  I think?  LOL!

I then took Vallejo Model color Black 70.950 and dry brushed certain areas un-thinned.  My final step was to use Tamiya Weatherine Master A and Master F (Titanium) to bring some hard edges out.  I probably upset a lot of armour modelers with what I've done so please excuse my ignorance.

I made a mistake by not placing the decals on prior to weathering but I was able to fix that.  I hope you enjoy the outdoor photo scenes.  Thank you for always checking in on my builds to see how I'm doing, this helps me so much in my progress!

It looks like something's a bit off with the loader's hatch. I think you have it reversed. It should be flat in the cupola when closed or flat against the turret roof when open. I think you may have positioned it with the arm of the mounting pin (B16) pointing backwards instead of towards the cupola.  If you haven't glued it in, just lift it out and turn it around and everything should just fall into place.
