Winter SU-85 Self Propelled Gun
Posted by Raindog9 on Sunday, October 16, 2016 11:15 AM

Hey guys,

So this is my first attempt at a winter vehicle, and I have to admit I don't think I will try to put snow on again. While it seemed like a good idea, i lost all of the interesting details on the top planes. The idea behind it was to have a driver take a look around because the Periscopes are blocked up with snow. I still need to weather the tracks, and add an antenna. Please let me know what you think? Anyone have any ideas to add some interest? I may add some snow melt, and also bend the antenna to show wind direction. I really wanted to capture the brutality of winter.

Thanks for taking a look!

Looks good, but you definitely need to do more weathering on the hull itself, not just the tracks. It just looks a little too pristine, unless that's the look you were going for.a light wash of dirty brown, and some stains, think of the way a white truck looks after driving around after a storm.

Tojo, appreciate the commentary. I agree completely that the hull is not weathered enough. The challenge is that I had attempted to depict a soviet gun after a snowfall. I had airbrushed a coating of dirt on, but it did not look good. I think some drybrushing above and below the snowline is in order. I've also recently picked up some pastels, so i'll see what I can work out there.

I appreciete the feedback!
