1sr Infantry jeep from US Army Jeep at War pg 8
Posted by ugamodels on Sunday, June 25, 2017 3:55 PM

I am trying to model a jeep to be like the one in the picture on page 8 in El Guettar. No markings are visible but as I recall there is a pattern to markings.. Can anyone tell me what might be a marking for the bumpers and hood?

Also anyway to find if there are other shots of this scene?

I type on a tablet. Please excuse the terseness and the autocorrect. Not to mention the erors.

The bumper codes would all depend upon what the Jeep was assigned to. 1st Infantry Division was the main unit there, but there was also one or two Tank Destroyer battalions involved in the fight. I would have to check my Osprey book at home for a full order of battle.

1st Ranger Battalion was attached to the One here.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Yes, Darby's Rangers were there also. But they were true light infantry. At that time I do not believe they had any vehicles assigned to them. They would obtain and use some 75mm Half Tracks at Salerno after their experiences in Sicily.

This seems to be a communication or reconnaissance jeep. There is a passenger on the radio and a spool of wire on the back. I am going to attempt to attach a picture of the picture somehow
