Weathering Book for Tanks
Posted by AndrewJosie on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 5:46 PM

Hi - I am in the process of building a Sherman "Easy Eight" and looking recommendations for books about weathering tanks.

Thank you!

Save your self the cost of a book and look on you-tube.  Lots and lots of how to videos.

Although books by Steven Zaloga are always worth having.

This book is always a great starting point. It may be old now and not part of many of the current fads, but it’s still a solid go to.

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Amen to that stikpusher. The author is still one of my main modeling go to people.

I strongly concur with Stik and Bill. However, there is a Youtube site that I strongly recommend.  It is Andy's Hobby Headquarters, where he teaches all kinds of weathering and chipping techniques in his builds.  He does have a video for the Tamiya "Easy Eight" as well.

Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

The Shep Paine book is still a valuable source of information. Probably one of the best overall armor modeling books available.

And it makes for great Class 1 download reading material.

Martin Kovac's channel Night Shift has some great weathering videos.

I'm giving weathering with oils a try, and found Abteilung 502/AK's book on the subject to be helpful (and cheaper on their website than eBay or Amazon, even with shipping).

FSM also has a free downloadable publication called Weathering Armor.  I downloaded it and could send it to you if you can't find it on this site.  Just PM me with your address.
