I didn't intend to build this, really. I'd used parts from it on a Trump T-62 (base coated and set aside) but looking in the box, I got to wondering if I could build it using the Trump parts...  the answer turned out to be yes, and in no time at all I had the thing built. It's actually a very nicely engineered kit, good fit and all, so since I'm currently in a "painter's block" I decided to use this to get over it. A few more hours and bang, it's finished.

Anrenna masts are painted, just not installed. I wanted it nasty looking too, as they are in almost all the pics of them I have, so I went to town on it, looking for lots of accumulated dust and dirt, using those pics as guides.

Fun kit, and now I'm painting again.

Nice job.  Interesting vehicle.  What is the story on this one?

Thanks,

John

So it just built itself, huh? :-)

This baby is one of the wickedest (english?) tracks in the world... Like in: Two Israeli engineers are walking aroung a battlefield ant hey find a hit T-55. One says what is it? The other says: No Idea. Now what says the first? The other says: Lets make an APC out of it!

Mean looking? Wikipedia says Achzarit means "Cruel" in Hebrew.

And it looks very good - congratulations. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day!

It's kind of a bad word in English, slang in Hebrew and not something I'd be anxious to put up on the interweb, but think: Son of a ..........

So the Tiran 5 was kind of a developmental dead end for the IDF, they had a bunch of them and needed a heavy APC a lot more than a bunch of cramped and hard-to-fight Russian tanks, so bingo, the "Cruel Lady" was born.

This is an interesting shot, gives an idea of just how much bul the IDF added to turn a cramped invironment into something useful:

It's big for sure. Check the pic of it next to a T-55, the "donor" vehicle.
