Shanghai Dragon Hummel & Nashorn
Posted by wildwilliam on Friday, November 14, 2003 10:15 AM
i am following kits of these on eBay.
i think that they were the same as the older DML/Dragon kits.
if the price is right, are these kits worth persuing,
or should i save my $$ for the newer DML/Dragon enhanced re-issues?

naturally, the auction ends in 3 hours.
good of me to wait until the last minute, eh? Black Eye [B)]

thanks for the help,
ed.

From what I understand, the original Dragon Nashorn is fraught with inaccuracies and other problems. That's why there were multitudes of aftermarket accessories produced, or so the stories go.
I have no first-hand stories for you, just the rumors!Wink [;)]

Oh, I almost forgot: I understand that the new ones are great, so you may want to wait and get those, unless the ebay offerings are like ten bucks each or something.

Hi there wildwilliam!

Personally I woul'dnt bother buying the old issues of the hummel and nshorn.
The nashorn was dragon's first 1:35 kit. or better cold a fiasco! dimensions were terrible and lots of inaccurices, the hummeleven had a problem with the cannon length.

Save your money and invest at the new riessues. theay are NEW kits accurate and beautifull. Yes they are more expansive but they'd save you the hard work.

thanks guys!
i appreciate the short notice help.
the kits are hanging around $15 w/ no bidders.
looks like i should pass too.
w/ my enormous kit backlog, there is really no justification for buying these if they are not the most desireable version.

i started looking for a Hummel because i was mistakenly sent the Eduard PE for the Shanghai Dragon kit (SdKfz 165) while i had won the PE for a Me163 !!
not all that similar, as it turns out Big Smile [:D]

guess i will leave these lie, and wait for a deal on the newer, better ones.

thanks again,
ed.

I have just checked my Nashorn.... Yea I got stuck with the old one (kit 6001). Has anyone gone to the trouble of fixing the errors or have know of where the "errors" are listed? Thanks for your help

I also own kit 6001. I was considering building it but I keep hearing rumors about the kit.

I have looked through the box and the detail looks fantastic. The tracks are standard for dml pz III/IV. The model should build up nice with a few "problems" that will not affect the outcome for me. Sometimes the incorrect position of a muffler or wrench doesnt matter too much.

Anyway, I found this link and I think the person that "corrected" the kit did a superb job!

Here it is: http://ampsnz.hobbyvista.com/reviews/Kits/kits1.35/WWII/Germany/SPG/Nashorn/nashorn.htm

Maybe we should make a DML 6001 Build. (seriously there are not that many "problems" with the kit)
