Sherman firefly , I Polish Armored Division `44

PITERPANZER, here's one for you, the Italeri M4A1, almost OOB. It's a little beat up from a few moves, and it's "old school" finishing, but it's still in the display case.....

The ref pics came from Osprey's book on Polish Armor in WWII, and tha markings are from an old Verlinden dry transfer sheet.

Piter - None of us are perfect...thats why we are all here to share and review each others work.

We all try to teach each other so our next build is better than the last. the most important thing is to have fun...which it seams you did.

I know that,but if I read about other models ,and see long lists (es?) of places to correct...then I affraid to built shermi.

As positive ,since today I have much more pics from internet in my shermi folder,and probably I try to built Italieri M4A1 as a "Kitus II" or "Flying Cow" . I have some another M4A4 and firefly pics in my books .Will see .

For sure it will be sometning between polish heros.

By the way ,inspiration for me was a post from Armorama with  these 3 pics.

I'm really grateful for all notices and suggestions.I`m not a shermanoholic , but I like the shermi.

 Aggregating all comments from different forums it`s possible to  write a long list of errors in the  Dragon`s model . Boggies has  2 errors, the lack of drainage holes for fuel  ,poor wheels etc. I correct for sure lamps colour- thanks , but leave another places.

Reasume , I enjoy to built my firefly ,but live shows nobody is perfect ;-)

The photos are great. Weathering and detail is excellent. The sag...I sure in between adjustments you could have seen exerything from tight to falling off.

The tail lights sould be Red on top left side and Black on the bottoms and right top.

Bravo Piter!  That's one of the better looking Shermans to roll through here.  Great job matching all the details of your build to the historical vehicle.  I really like the weathering too.  Excellent job.

Clearly there is more sag than you would see in the vast majority of Shermans, and if this were a model of a "generic" Sherman, I would think the same thing.  In this case though, Piter is modelling a specific tank, and the side photos of the actual tank that Piter chose to model show a near identical sag, so I think his model's track sag in this instance is spot on.

Normally I would say the same thing about the track tension, but I've seen a couple (only) pics of Shermans, still operational, with tracks displaying sag. One British and a few of Russian tanks in particular come to mind. I'm definitely not saying it's the norm, however, as it seems to be very rare.  I'm curious if it was a maintenance issue or not. A good example, Zaloga's "Armored Thunderbolt" has a pic of an M3 Lee in British service that looks ready to throw the tracks. The pics of Russian tanks clearly show stopped vehicles, so it's possibly not a motion-induced condition. Possibly very heavily worn tracks, desperately needing adjustment? Might be why it's not a condition seen on US tanks.....

All in all, a very nice Sherman, I think.
