thank you and welcome to FineScale

Step by step pictures follow because I wanted to show how I made the front and rear bumpers from scratch

I didn't have any styrene shapes like this on hand so I started with a piece of acrylic cut from a CD jewel case

This CD case parts was needed for a solid core to glue the rest of the parts around and onto in a laminate fashion

I used .010" thickness styrene sheet to cut out the parts and pieces for the bumpers

Plastruct stock square rod was cut, drilled and shaped for the rubber bumpers on the front

notice I inserted a scrap piece of the same acrylic of the same stock before drilling to avoid tearing and breakage of the fragile styrene

brass wire is measured, bent and cut to size for the front bumper

The front winch guide rollers assembly

For the rear I made a drawing because I got tired of running back and forth between the computer and the bench which are in two different rooms

keeping everything nice and square while the glue cures

the bumper assemblies were tac clay tacked into place for the pictures

As soon as the bolt head arrive in the mail, that will be the final details to add to these

thanks for looking

Reworking and building up the interior details.

The side running board was detailed with styrene and a rectangle was cut out of both sides for a foot step.

Tread plate from the spare parts box was cut to fit and inserted and glued in.

The (radio shelf)? part was made from sheet brass, cut and bent to shape.

Interesting project, what was the main use of the boom?  I'm with the others, never saw this version either.  Good luck on 'er!

This is the vehicle I intend to build and complete in 1/35

I saw it on a US Navy Seabee base during an 'open to the public day' event. While taking pictures of an armored cab on a cement mixer truck, I noticed it across the grinder. All of my attention and camera memory card was on this vehicle for rest of my visit.

This is the kit that I'll build this around

The doors were cut apart and roof part was cut to size. Then a clay-tac mock up was made..

I now have to fill the half round hole in the roof

Using the roof part I traced the the arch shape onto a scrap piece of CD case plastic, which was the right thickness. Then cut it out and glued into place after sanding the partial ring ridge off of the roof part. Putty.

Sanded this until smooth.

Spray primer

I hope to be finished this year....

Thanks for looking
