I would agree with both above. When it comes to armour, i used to always go for Aber first. If they diodn't have a set for a certain kit, i then went for Eduard. But lately i have been going for Voyager sets. They usually work out cheaper than Aber but still have all the parts i really need. And seem to have less of all the unnsessacery parts that Aber has.

But to repeat whats been said, edaurd are perfectly fine and give very good detail for less price. And it will vary from kit to kit.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I would agree with Roy....it varies from kit to kit....as someone who only does US subjects, Eduard is fine, Griffon is good and some of the new arrivials like MK are ok.

In general, if you are building a more recent kit, you will be left with about half the PE unused when you are done. Many of the items they give you just don't need to be replaced.

I have yet to build a model with PE and use the whole PE set. With that in mind, look at price. Eduard gives you details and is reasonable.

Some of the expensive Griffon and Aber sets can be a disappointment as to how much you spent and how much you use!!

You have a legitimate question but I don't know if anyone has done a comprehensive comparison.  Obviously some older stuff (Airwaves, old Eduard) is clunky.  Then there's the insanity of lots of ABER stuff.  But looking at the accuracy and nice design of some of the stuff from China (Griffon & Lion Roar), I can tell that most everybody is doing good stuff.

I would just post individual requests:"What PE set do you recommend for my new aqcusition?" and see what people say.

I recently reviewed some Griffon PE sets for the DML M16 quad gun half track and found its quality to be top notch.

PE created equal?

Thought I'd run this buy both armor and ship fans.

Having my first encounter with serious PE. I've done pits and pieces on tanks and planes, not discerning any difference when I put it on and skipping a few molecular bits because nobody could have seen them and I didn't care if they were there. But at a certain point especially for armor and ships you have to get serious about PE.

There is an obvious question though. There are marked differences in kits, in paints and even cements. Are there some brands of PE that have a reputation for - say - being just a micron thicker and just a little easier to handle without bending? Or having instructions that show one what the completed part is supposed to look like? I'm sticking with what I have here (and saying preparing a proper prayer when it comes time to install railings) because there's no choice. However, I've got some major kits in the stash. So if you get sturdier and better fitting PE parts by paying extra money, I'm all for it. Anyway, if there's a PE equivalent of Tamiya out there, I want some. At this stage in my career I can live without Admiral Jellicoe's ash-tray or other equally impressive embellishments. Recommendations from wiser heads?
