It is quite the beast in person. They had one in the Ft.Polk museum back in the 80s, (along with an AH-56 Cheyenne!) and several were gunnery target hulks out on the ranges at Ft Polk as well. I got to shoot two of those hulks with live TOW missiles back then. Those were some expensive fireworks...

Yeah I knew it's a large vehicle but I had no idea till I got to stand beside one. A museum near here in Danville Virginia has one.

Dang, the Gama Goat and then this baby! It's like the Cold War is here again! When it's just the scaled down version and not the real thing, I like it a lot! Thanks for the news, have a nice day

Yup, and  we got that new M48 from Dragon, plus the pair of 151s (Grenada & Vietnam) from Tamiya and Meng announcing a new Leopard 1A3/A4. Trumpeter is still going strong with Soviet armor announcing a new T-72 and T-80... Great days for us Cold War AFV modelers.

Nice, I took a few pics of one of these beasts at the Mech Museum at Camp Pendleton, it was definitely way impressive up close.

In a couple weeks, I will be in Syracuse, NY. The nearby USMC Reserve Center in Mattydale has a M103A2 on display. Seems like a good time for a photo shoot....

There's not much left on Fort Knox, but there's been an M103 in Radcliff, KY since at least 1987.

Hahah, liked the sign "please stat off the tank for your safety". Not sure if it was a deterrent banner for the soviets...

Seems this model came out of the FSM survey...could it be?

The M103A1 is great news; it sure made me smile!  I think I will keep my finger off the "pre-order now!" button though, as I am holding out for a USMC A2.  I wonder if any other kit maker will enter the fray, like Amusing Hobby or Meng?

I agree on the previous call for a Conqueror.  Throw in a T-10 and you have a complete set of 1950s heavies.

So with the kit manufacturers trolling about for interesting untouched subjects, what will come next?  I'd vote for an MBT-70 and an all new M60A2.

Yes, I sure do hope that Dragon continues down this path. First the new M48, and now this M103. I would really love to see an all new "Starship".But since AFV Club has announced a new M60A1, who knows... thye do tend to cover many or all of the variants in a series eventually.

Hey, I'd take either one!  After reading an exhaustive article in the IPMS Journal about getting the old Tamiya kit up to snuff, I decided that I'd wait for a more accurate kit.  I know some people complained about the length of the article, but I thought it was fantastic and a very interesting read.

But back on topic, I look forward to the DML M103.  I hope they do a good job and don't commit any major goofs to set off the boo-birds.

I just hope that mistakes like the T28 do not happen.  There will always be the guys who say the bolts should be 3.32" apart rather than 3.5", but hey, they gotta find something to chew on.  Me, I'm just happy that a plastic M103 is headed our way.

Exactly... no scale model kit is "perfect". There is always some flaw to be found.  I will just be quite happy that this long overlooked subject will be available.
