I've been having a LOT of trouble getting pictures

Hey gang,

time for another update.


I cut and split some used scotchbrite and pulled each layer apart to thin it out.



The purpose is to create simple vines and fill behind the leaves giving depth when applied to the turret and elsewhere.




Don't know where I got this stuff (it's plastic-like sponge) but the vine-like pattern is just what I need.



I cut it in a manner that would allow me to stretch it out.



Ivy leaves from...........




Dipped and glued in place.
   One by one.



First layer, randomly over bothsides of the turret .



Another angle.




Here is where the scotchbrite for depth comes in.



And some of that black stuff too.

l'm not adding any cammo to the hull as I don't want to cover up a lot of detailed work.





Going out on a lonnng limb here.





                             



I'm going to have to add some more lead weight to the forward portion of the hull to get those movable bogies positioned better.

I used some gauze and string for that gaggle of camouflage midway down the barrel.




Different angle -  a bit closer......







It's now headed to it's base display to meet with the Porsche turreted Tiger for a bit of "rear guard" defense.

  I'd thought about it. Good question.
All traffic in and out of this particular vehicle had to be gained through the turret hatches. Navigating all the inherent topside fixtures in addition to the leaves and branches would surely impede any urgent movement, increasing the risk for injury, not to mention obscuring the periscopes.

And then again, heck......
  I just didn't want to cover up all of the turret.
                                                             

Yeah that's the main point, I wouldn't want to cover up all that fantastic work you put in there either!

 Well, after using for 14 years....... this might be my last post using that site, unless
they get their act together,


 I'm tired of sitting around for 45 minutes  just trying to view 2 pictures, and thentrying

And yeah, I know what you mean about PhotoBucket. I was trying to download some photos off PB back onto my hard drive. I think I was averaging maybe two photos a minute or less.

I'd go with the Henschell turret. I've never been much on what if myself.

 Pardon my delayed response here.
I've been dealing with some home-related
infrastructural problems.

I'm inclined to liking the Henschell turret myself,
looks like a better choice without the shell trap.

I don't get around to forums much these days---I'm writing a lot of articles though--but I had to stop in and say that you've never disappointed, and this double-build is no exception. Masterful work, inspiring artistry and vision; boy, you're going to make a lot of those "realism" guys apoplectic, and that's something to smile about right there, lol. Really fabulous work here. you should be proud. Take some time off and recharge your batteries and come back with another jaw-dropper. I know you will.

Steve, I've been getting caught up on the forum posts and I came across your Two Kitties build(s)!   What amazing and lifelike work on them!  Even though I take off to pursue other hobbies, this is the kind of stuff that inspires me to return to the bench and keep building!  I'm still trying to figure out how you got the dirt on the hull to look so realistic!!

 I've been cleaning out my photobucket images and working on re-posting some of them here soon (but on a limited scale).

 I don't think I could ever get them back on here in the correct order.

I've kicked the bucket permanently                              

and will be moving on.

Probably be a while before I'll be back here..... but I WILL be back.
