I'd have to rule out the dog, he likes to eat boots. The cat on the otherhand, lately has been trying to negotiate fresh chicken and salmon at every meal and I wouldn't put it past her to have taken hostages.
oh yeah, this happened to me once. I painted the boots with acrylics but the rest of the figure with PPG Auto Paint reduced hot with like acetone. By the next morning, poof, gone, just like DM's illustration.
I'm kidding, I don't know. What did happen? Or are you talking about an old Testors figures set where the boots are seperate parts?

I'm betting on aliens, they sucked him right out of the turrent so fast only his boots remained.........or in extemis, the cat. I have one, a maltese gray, "Ghost" who likes to try and run off with whatever I have set aside to dry when working on a kit at home.

Mr. Mouse likes Tank commanders.
Obviously the guy just couldn’t take it and just had to go and wash his socks. He should be back in time for Christmas…….OOPS maybe not.

Building the perfect model---just not quite yet
Would have to make an emergency trip to the LHS and buy a whole bunch of SAR kits. I am sure Mrs. Castelnuovo would understand. Carpet monster is also a suspect, but no proof...yet
