Meng modern Pick-up w/ZPU-1 1:35 - FINISHED!
Posted by DutchLegend on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 6:01 PM

Hello everybody,

last week i began a new kit, the Meng pick-up with ZPU1 AA gun. This will be my first build report on this forum, i hope you enjoy reading it.

The pick-up looks alot like a Toyota Hilux, used in conflicts by different factions all over the world, like the war in Libya. The AA gun mounted on the back of the car is an ZPU1 (Russian AA). There is a ZPU2 and a ZPU4 as well, the difference between the 1,2 and 4 are the ammount of barrels, the ZPU1 has 1 barrel while the ZPU4 has 4 barrles. The even mount homemade rocket pods on the back of the pick up...

Box cover
The kit with the pick-up truck, also known as a ''technical''

Inside the boxWhats inside the box??

SpruesThe sprues!!

ChassisThe finished chassis (needs some weathering of course)

interiorThe finished interior.

The body so far.

Seen from a different angle.

See you on the next update!!

Greetings Marco

Great start Dutch,

I have to echo Bish. The paint and chipping are well done. Looking forward to the finish product.

Very  nice progress. What armament do you plan to build on your technical?

Hello everyone,

Did some work on the body yesterday. Attached the bumpers and did some dusting on the windows. bodywork is almost finished (except for the weathering).

@SprueOne: i'm going for the AA armament (provided with the kit). I think my next project will be a pick up with the rocket launcher.

Bodywork 2

bodywork 3

Next step is going to be to assemble the pick up and do the weathering, after that i'm going to build the AA gun.

Thanks for watching and see you on the next update!!

Love the ding-up paint. I always find it hard to do something like this without it looking overdone.

Oh wow that does looks good! I've seen plenty of trucks on the road that look just like that - sans AA gun of course!
