the Baron Cool, thanks, I didn't know they produced a completely new kit.
Cool, thanks, I didn't know they produced a completely new kit.
They did two new ones; the M48A2/A2C and the M48A2GA2.

the Baron Nicely finished! Sure, it's an old kit, but you've shown that it can be turned into a nice model. Best regards, Brad

I'm glad you thought enough of it to comment, your opinion is gratefully received. The simplicity of the kit eased the whole process.

the Baron...Now there's a Revell A2... Is that a new kit, GM, and not just the re-issue of the original Monogram kit?

Yes, it is a totally new-tooled kit.
It is molded with cast texture as well, although it is a little rough.

GMorrison For a long time I think this kit was the only A2, other than an expensive conversion set. It can be the source of hull replacement parts to modify a Tamiya A3. Now there's a Revell A2. IMO the biggest stinker on this otherwise OK kit are the two triangular ledges on the side of the turret that are supposed to be open grab rails.

I believe you're absolutely correct, I believe also that the ledges on the turret are way too long in addition. I have a set of railings from the 1:350 U-176 that ,to my eyes, probably would've been acceptable, but opted for the easier way out.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Gamera Yeah, after you fixed the track she looks pretty darn good!!! You made a nice looking silk purse out of that old sow's ear!

Thanks Gamera, your comments are really appreciated, wasn't aware of the age of the kit until Tom Hering posted above, I suppose that makes it one of my contemporarys.

Bish Thats a great looking build and i think the dust effects arevery well done, especially with the heavier coat on the back. Good save on the track as well.

Many thanks Bish, confirms that I might be on the right track. A pretty basic kit, just have to drill out the muzzle as suggested.

goldhammer Not that much of an armor guy, nicely done and a good save on the track.

Then your opinion is doubly meaningful and much appreciated. As far as the track fix, even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then.
Rob Gronovius It's a solid build of a dinosaur of a kit! I started one over a year ago and decided to stick the old Lo Models M48A2GA2 conversion on the kit to make it the West German version. Decent enough kit for almost being 60 years old. Looks good.

Thanks Rob, yea not too bad to bang together, can't remember two days ago never mind if I saw your build a year ago, I'm sure it was your usual above par work.
Kilo 66Beautifully executed OOB build. You have every right to be pleased. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to drill out the main gun muzzle.
Thanks Kilo 66, kind of you to remark. I fixed the tread and now contemplating doing the muzzle, so obvious, why didn't I think of it ?
1943Mike I'm working on my first armor kit - the Tamiya M48A3 - and if I can even approach the finish with 1/2 the skill and artistry you've done here with your Monogram kit I'll be a happy camper.

Well, I'll be dipped in puppy poop, I'll need that statement in a notarized form. Seriously, your assessment is deeply appreciated as I am not one to consider emulating. But as I stated I almost started to consider it not a half bad effort and now am starting to believe it. Thanks and looking foward to your M48A3.

tigerman Very nice on an old kit. Makes me want to build a Monogram PZ IV for nostalgic sake. probably less then a hundred parts I'll bet.

Thanks tigerman, I'll have to look for that kit.
Like the Weasel M29 too.

GMorrison You did a nice job there, esp. hiding the hull half seams at the front. I think the weathering looks good. One thing, the left side track is on backwards. Cool tank.

Done and with minimal pain,a little misalignment in the track now and some flaking from the rubber track, never would have caught it, should've paid more attention to the tread heads when I had the chance, again, thanks.
Well I've worked down to you Mr Morrison, great eyes. Now to seperate and replace. You are probably aware of what it takes to get those rubber tracks on and I have no idea how I will monkeyf### it back, but monkey f'it it will be. Your judgement is held in the upper regards and your comments are deeply appreciated. And I thought I finished it!
RX7850 Looks really good to me.

Thanks 7850 greatly appreciated.
ManCityFan No gripes or complaints on this end. Solid build with an excellent paint job, and effective weathering techniques. I especially like the tracks. They just look....right. Excellent job. D

Thanks D. The few sets of tracks I've done are the worst part of the build for me, you know..you've seen the examples set here in the forums. I just figured how much climate difference can there be in the summer in the Sinai ? Glad you think it worked.
