Zimmerit question
Posted by warshipguy on Monday, May 14, 2018 2:56 PM

Hello!

Does anyone know of an aftermarket set of zimmerit for the Italeri 1/35 Ferdinand?  My son gave that kit to me under the "World of Tanks" moniker that I will build as an actual German Ferdinand.

Thanks!

Therefore, do NOT use the Eduard PE zimmerit for your Italeri Ferdinand. For related products, go to scalemates.  Looking there, I find no aftermarket zimmerit sets for the old Italeri Ferdinand/Elefant kit.  https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION%5B%5D=Kits&q=%22Sd.Kfz.+184+Ferdinand%22+1%3A35#

Gentlemen,

Thanks for your responses. I appreciate it. It looks like I will have to use the old tried and true method of applying it myself with putty and one of Tamiya's zimmerit tools.

Bill,

I hope you start a thread of your build here. I didn't realize you worked on the dark side as well as the "floaty" side.

I've found the razor saw and putty technique isn't that hard and I've actually found it kind of fun and relaxing back when I used to do it.

Mike,

I do occassionally work on the "Dark Side". After all, didn't Churchill once describe tanks as "land ships"?

I use it, too.  If it was good enough for Shep, it's good enough for me!
