World War Toons King Tiger I + WWToons kits back in stock at Hobby Lobby!
Posted by DanR1967 on Saturday, September 8, 2018 1:42 PM

All,

I finished another one of these awesome little kits just in time to find out that Hobby Lobby has not only restocked the Sherman, but also now has the King Tiger I and Pzkpfw V Panther in stock. Each one is $12.99. Use the 40% off coupon to get $5.20 off (making them $7.80 ea.). The Tiger I has a smaller parts count than the Sherman, and the Panther has less than both, but they are still so much fun to build!

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm already seeing conversion kits being made for these tanks (https://sisolders.wordpress.com/tag/m4-sherman-world-war-toons/). I think they're gaining a bit of popularity. I'm hoping that HL stocks a few more - I think there are 10 different tanks now.

G, looks to be an early production, so doesn't need it Wink

The Panther might though.

Ah thanks Bish, wouldn't want the Tiger to be inaccurate and get pounced on by some rivet counter... Stick out tongue

Dan: Love that calliope rocket launcher mod, thanks for the link!!!

Ya know we should put together a group build for these if there's any interest. Maybe throw in some 'egg' planes too.

and an aluminum barrel, check to see if Fruils make a set of individual metal tracks. LOL!

Kind of reminds me when Tamiya started making 1/48 scale armor again. They were designed for the casual modeler to have a nice display piece. Then the aftermarket jumped in and you can now make these simple weekend kits into highly detailed scale models.

I might see if there's any interest sometime early next year. I'd thought about an 'egg' plane GB for Easter a few times but wasn't sure there'd be enough interest. Maybe this and the 'egg' planes together plus random silly ideas like 'Rommel's Rod' would be the trick.

Just looked up all those Meng model kits for tanks and planes. You could count me in on a GB. Sounds like it could be fun.
