Tamiya T34/76 1/35 -beginner's work-
Posted by Prostho on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 2:29 AM

Hi everyone,

This is only my 2nd work so I need some assistance to get them better with each work afterwards. Im open to all kinds of suggestions

-On this model I tried to get better on rust and pinwash(rust is homemade with vinegar/NaOCL and steelwool)

-Tracks turned out to be a disaster and I just kept doing worse so I left them as they are

-There's no coat yet

-Machine gun barrel is replaced by an injection needle

Thats good by any standard let alone your second build. There is to much rust there for my taste, i hardly add any, especially on tracks. The pinwash is well done, take away the rust and thats a really nice finish.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Yea,a nice solid build. I would bow to Bish's judgement on the rust, especially on the tracks, but the effects on the body are very well done.

The rust may be a little overdone but it looks good and it's in all the right places.

Personally I'd be thrilled to turn out something that good today, as a second tank I'd be ecstatic!

Don't sell yourself short, very nice work, one think I do is dirty up and tone down any white lettering and markings so they dont look do clean.

Also I believe that those roadwheels are metal and painted,so the edges that contact the tracks should be bare metal.

Thank you, I guess I got carried away with rust. Previous armor had too much chipping and this one has too much rust. Gonna try to control myself in future tries Yes

Thanks, I am a bit afraid to do anything on decals since I havent used any kind of final coat yet. Id love to do as you mentioned but not sure how without harming those. Tips are wellcome

I tried to work and get tracks better but with overusing that rust solution I harmed the tracks. Used some graphite to get the effect but didnt work well this time.

Nice work although I will concur on the excessive rust on the tank body. As for the tracks I normally see WWII Russian tanks with rusty tracks, so I have no qualm with that. But overall this is very nice.

Nice job!  Great advice here, though I don't do much armor but appreciate the subjects.

Thanks,

Unless this T34 is being displayed as sitting for a long time the parts of the tracks touching the ground and where the road wheels touch those tracks, should be displaying bare metal like a railroad track with normal useage.

Yes you are right Marcus, the illustration on the box is as you mentioned. Parts that touch and get burried into road are like railroad bars, abrased metal look. But still theres rust in between those parts. I lost control over tracks and couldnt get them better. The rust solution I prepared damaged the structure of the plastic and I couldnt risk the tracks anymore. Now I began on a Sturmgeschütz IV and I ll keep rust where it belongs and in normal amount. Thanks for sharing your opinion

Its true that rust was overdone, maybe it will be better in a diorama with suitable environment. Thanks
