Somebody help me here--for some reason (fickle memory, I suspect) but, I was thinking most of the kits are B2s, the work would be to make a B1.
If I remember (again a long shot), the stowage differed between the B1 & B2 (but may only be in quantity, not arrangement). IIRC the MG cupola on the B2 is twice as deep (lower into the fighting compartment) as on the B1, and has a prominant weld seam at the change.
But, I could be well wrong
Capn, I think that you’re confusing the M32 with the M7.
The M32 is the armored recovery vehicle based off of the M4 Sherman. They variant nomenclatures closely matched their base vehicle M32/M4, M32B1/M4A1, M32B2/M4A2, M32B3/M4A3.
Here is a good link with plenty of info on the M32 series

Small hatch vs. big hatch when talking Pacific vehicles.

Yes, that is another feature aspect to consider. Look at some reference photos if you are planning to model a particular vehicle.

I was indeed.
FrankenpanzerIs there a template or reference for the wading stacks used on the USMC versions?
There is certainly reference in different books. I have a few books by Concord, Squadron, and Osprey that cover them. Early wading stacks were developed in the MTO and PTO separately using what was on hand. Mostly sheet metal and empty 55 gallon drums. Later a standardized factory produced type as was seen from 1944 on used worldwide by US and Allied forces.
Ok, read that linked article.
I'm pretty sure I now know less about the M32 than I used to
Looks like a B3 would almost be easier than a B2.
