I’d like to share my build of the Tamiya King Tiger Production Turret. It was a fun project that allowed me to play around with a lot of weathering techniques as well as paint some figurines. I followed the box art for the the camo pattern, I may opt for some camo putty for masking next time instead of free hand, it was tough to get a clean line and control the overspray. I cut off both front fenders as well as removed a few side fenders. Not sure on how accurate the thickness these fenders are but to me they seemed a bit thick for this scale but I just flowed with it. Next time I’ll invest in a nice set if aftermarket fenders. My initial process was black primer, pre shade with white, base colors, and clear coat. I bought Vallejo’s rust effect set which I used to fade rust to the areas that are missing the fenders [I’m sure there’s a proper name, I just don’t know it :)]After that I did a light wash of dark brown then black wash in selected areas, stippled on the dark rust, accented with Mr. Color Rust wash, highlighted with aluminum. The motorcycle was a fun little build, so were the figures. I could use some more practice with painted faces, I was scared to do the eyes so I stopped at shadows/highlights.

The fenders came out nice,painting and camo look great,and your chipping technique looks like you really got it spot on,for my money,I just think the chipping went to far.
Just offering my opinion,realizing that there are many ways to do things.
Thats come out very nice, the scheme looks well done, i think the demarcation between colours looks about right.
I am not a fan of chipping, but what you have got the effect nicely.

Yes your "Ambush Camouflage" scheme is spot on, but I have to agree with Tojo. The paint job seems to have been 'overchipped'. I have to see this as a King Tiger that was in the last stages of the war and was hiding in heavy foliage (low tree branches) to produce the paint chipping. Don't get me wrong, you have it down to an artform.
I think I got a bit carried away chipping the paint, knowing when to stop has always been tough for me
