Incheon USMC M26 Pershing Weathering
Posted by PACIFICWARJOHN on Sunday, June 30, 2019 6:45 PM

So The Build I'm Doing At The Moment Is The Tamiya M26 Pershing. I just had some question On How bad this tank would look in real life.  I have seen photos but can't make out a lot of stuff due to black and white. I know the tanks would have scuff marks due to marines riding on them and they were muddy  but were they rusted, dusty, etc I wanna get a good representation of what these tanks looked liked when they landed on shores of Incheon

After a quick amount of research, the USMC M26's would be reconditioned and painted.  Many were mothballed due to the end of WW2, and not in running condition.  The Korea forces were in a rush to replace the M24 light tanks that couldn't compete with the NorK's T-34's.  Many M-26's were reclaimed gate guards accordinng to Wiki.

Here is color footage of the Pusan perimeter.  Inchon would be the same.  Also read the Wiki M26 entry.

1st Marine Tanks had been rushed to Pusan in late summer 1950 and in action there for several weeks before being pulled out for the Inchon Landings. The road network there was primitive, and there wasn’t much time (and probably facilites) for the usual pre cleaning before being loaded aboard the landing ships. The tanks would have been muddy/dusty depending upon weather immediately beforehand. As you can see from this photo, the fender racks for machine gun ammo cans had been added, the tracks are still full of mud/dirt.
