Splinter camo on leopard?

Im going to buy a 1/35 leopard 2a7 model and was wondering how you could paint the splinter camo found on many swedish armoured vehicles? I dont have an airbrush yet. Im thinking of using lots of masking tape but that wont really randomize a lot of things... Any ideas?
