Mighty good results, after noting the difficulties with the kit you described. An excersize in patience well rewarded, nice job.

Thanks GS and Hutch. Been trying to make the CLY badge to add to the base sides but my printer sucks at reproducing finer details when reduced in size.

Lovely job, nicely set off with a well-made base.  And thanks for the tip about the headlight reflectors - stored for future reference!

Like I said in the British GB great work PJ! You did a much better job than my attempt at the same kit . Hopefully my Asuka Firefly VC can turn out like yours.

Dragon's original 1995 Firefly Vc #6031, had a lot of issues, and like many of their original Sherman kits, they were based off of the 1970s Italeri kits.

Your's looks very good and it is good to see these long maligned kits built up.

Dragon Firefly Allakeefek

Dragon dropped th ball BIG time with this Firefly. The divisional markings were wrong, along with several missing parts and details for this particular Firefly that was knocked out at Villers Bocage during the famous Wittman Tiger attack. Markings are for the 4th CLY Sharpshooters, 22nd AB of the 7th AD "Desert Rats".

The sand skirts were scratched out from thin card stock. The wading bars and side clips were made from scrap PE fret frames. The Allakeefek art work was hand painted with a #10/0 brush.

This Firefly had no pistol port so the area was corrected and sanded smooth and textured with Mr. Surfacer 500 to recreate the cast iron texture. The missing T number on the left hull side was put together from spares. A small metal box was added to the right rear and antennas for the radios were made from very thin brass rod.

The base is an old picture frame filled with Durham's Water Putty and varius ground cover material were used for the terrain. Hataka SCC 15 olive lacquer was used for the overall color followed by pin washes and dot oil paint weathering. Tracks were painted using Tamiya Gun metal then rust and brown washes were applied. A Prismacolor silver pencil was used on the track contact points. MMP dirt pigment was then applied for a dusty appearance. I punched out two small discs from a chrome chip bag to use as the headlight reflectors. A drop of Testors Clear Parts cement was then applied over the disc to create the glass cover.

Click on the pictures for closeups. All comments welcomed. Thanks for looking.
