Yikes... what a horrible experience ! If that had happened to me, i think i'd be very upset and turned off by the totally unnecessary
nature of it all. Just makes me appreciate all u good folks at FSM even more... nice to know some people still remember what it's like to need help with something !

I want to thank everybody for the advice and good words regarding this. When I first received the reply I considered answering in kind, but decided against it. Could have had a big rowdy flame-out which probably would have been fun for a while, but gotten nowhere in the end. Besides, why lower myself to their standards?

I did go back to the site this morning and found my name was no longer on the "recent visitor" list and had been removed from their member listing also. Lucky me.

MIke, I'll probably will go back to gather what info I can from time to time, but it won't be soon. Places like that just annoy the crap out of me. And I agree about the people on this site. I've asked a few questions on different subjects and have received nothing but good advice. Hey, we all know that FSM rules!
Y'all take care and I'll be talking to you again,

Rick

I would have had way too much fun with a bunch of snobs like that. But no sport in it I suppose. Kicking puppies just isn't fun.
I may still... Its bad when a forum member does it, but is really bad when an administrator does it. Think of it as a lesson in temperance. You will be better for it. Like the other guys said, there are plenty of better, more informative sites out there (this site is just as informative as track link less pics maybe, but still as much info as any other)

Don't let it get to you man. We love ya. And we'll do our darndest to help ya. Lurk their site. Glean what ever info you can find and let them work for you. Its easy to be an idiot and impolite behind the safety of a computer screen.

I've seen this type of behavior on many sites. One (name withheld) site mentions a guy who creates a site, then posts and answers himself(so it is told)!
What drives people to do this?
I guess some folks are "web-geeks",and have to much time on thier hands!
Round the lot of 'em up,give some bucks, drag 'em to the hobby shop, and give 'em something to spend time CONSTRUCTIVLEY on!

Run away! You don't deserve that kind of treatment.

When I first started visiting armour related sites, Track-Link was one of the first that I tried to join. After a number of futile attempts, I just gave up. As it turns out the reason they wouldn't accept my application was because I was using an e-mail address from MSN. Something to do with the ability to trace someone that uses these types of addresses. I did not recieve any responses one way or the other from the administrators of T-L in regards to this matter (even after sending 3 e-mails requesting info) and have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I won't be joining them.

The response that you recieved Rick is beyond rude. There are no excuses for this type of treatment.

There are other good armour sites out there that would welcome your contributions and participation.

Track-Links loss as far as I'm concerned.

P.S. if you contact me by e-mail or by MSN Messenger, I might be able to help with some Sherman pics.

One of the first armor-specific model sites I visited a few years ago. I recall asking about fixing up my old Tamiya Hunting Tiger I had rescued from my mom's house (nostalgia's sake, it was built about 15 years earlier). Was promptly flamed for wasting their time with a cruddy kit, to just burn it, blow it up with firecrackers, etc.

Haven't been back since, nor will I. The site owner does visit Armorama on occasion and Paul seems like an OK guy. He's told me the site is much better and the flamers are either gone or in check. Not really interested in finding out though, too many user friendly site to bother with unfriendly ones.

Question About an Armor Site
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, July 21, 2003 8:23 PM
I may catch some flak (or PAK) for this, but I'm willing to risk it. I'm also posting it here because it is somewhat armor related.

A while back I hooked up with the "Track-Link" site http://www.track-link.net/ There are some excellent modelers posting there and their work is very good. I was looking for some Sherman photos and found out that they gave credits for work submitted to the site that could be used in return to allow me to download research photos from the site. I was told I could request the files also.

Not wanting to get and not give, about a month ago I submitted some photos of German armor I had done back in the mid 70s for submission to the site. They were all box stock and the photos were done in my front yard by a friend.

Anyway, after a month of checking back with the site and seeing no progress or having anyone "assigned" to me, I sent an e-mail requesting to be removed from their database. I figured since nothing seemed to be happening, I would just give it up.

Today I recieved the following reply from one of their adminstrators: "You stupid American."

I was just wondering if anyone here has had any dealings with Track-Link? And if so, did you encounter the same manner of rudeness?
