Major Rob,
Thanks. Would you happen to know the part number for that set?

Don't forget that AFV Club makes vinyl tracks for the extended hull M4A4. They run about $7.

I have the Firefly kit also. I won't start it until I get more experience with indy tracks. Those sherman DML tracks scare the daylights outta me.

You should see the DML Jagtiger (porche) tracks theres five little bits to each section Evil [}:)]

Just had a thought Joe ..... a number of years ago a company by the name of MP Models made a Firefly conversion kit that had track extenders for both the Tamiya and Italeri kits that were on the market. I built this kit years ago and may have those pieces still laying around somewhere so if I can find them I'll e-mail you and send them to you.

The key thing to building indy tracks like these are patience and planning. I usually built mine uo into 4 large pieces per side before attaching them to the kit.

shermanfreak,
Thanks very much for your help. I'm not very "gifted" when it comes assembling things of that nature. Was hoping to take the easy (coward's) way out. It will be a while before I start on either one of those particular projects, but if I get other tracks I will let you know. Again I appreciate your time and information. The best to you.
Regards,
Joe

Hey Joe

Yes that particular version of the Firefly was built on the M4A4 variant.

And yes the M4A4 was longer than other standard Shermans, this was to fit the engines that drove this variant.

It would be nearly impossible to take the rubber band tracks from another kit to replace the DML indy tracks you have, they won't be long enough. There are other indy tracks on the market that you may wish to try including RHPS and Fruilmodelismo. They are both good products that go together quite well. But the tracks that you have, even they they look daunting, give a very nice end result.

P.S. if you decide to go with A.M. tracks and discard the DML indy tracks, let me know, I'll take them off your hands. I luv 'em !!!!

Have some questions concerning the M4A4. I have two DML kits, M4A4 #6035 and Sherman Vc Firefly #6121.
1 Was the Firefly a modified M4A4?
2 If so, were these vehichles longer than the standard Sherman (M4, M4A1, M4A3)?
I'm asking because I'd like to know if it is possible to replace the individual tracks of the kit with vinyl tracks from other M4 kits.
If other tracks won't work, is there a set of vinyl traks that can be used on these kits? Thanks to any and all who might be able to help stamp out Sherman ignorance.
Regards,
Joe
