Hasegawa 1/24 Willys MB

Piter, my 1/35th MB was an Italeri. OK model, but I was unaware they did a 1/24th. Cool!

Nate, the next in the MB family is the Verlinden 1/48 resin and PE kit, whenever I get the time and courage!

Well ,I find this post today because I`m not  frequent here , all my old Friends , who interests in 1-25 scale gone , nobody knows where :-( ,and 1-35 scale is  marginal for me.

 I `m very happy to see next 1-24 model on FSM .Looks very nice,impressive wethering and details. Congratulation ski4jeepin

I read all Your posts , and see some more 1-24 vehicles in progress . My Yeep the same scale is lost somewhere on Forum , but it`s Italeri . I will do Hasegawa in future , for sure in polish camo from west front.

How do You see difference between this models if somebody has done both ?

Finally, I was able to take some time and get back on here!!!  I am glad to see the pics of the finished product and can't wait to see it in person!!  Great pics and OUTSTANDING job on this kit!! I really like the weathering job and the straps and buckles are amazing!  When I made my own buckles on my WC54 Ambulance, I about made it fly, so I definitely need to take some pointers from you. 

So, what scale is next for the motor pool??  Talk to you soon!

Thanks for the complement. and yes it is a very nice kit, it come in four variation (normal, military police, reconnisance and tow jeep like mine) an the engine components are very good.

Yes I've use pastle weathering and I like the result because it looks like dry dirt, and can be wipe off if there too much.

I am going to try to work on it this weekend, its nasty outside so trying to go scuba diving this weekend will be pointless. (stationed on Okinawa).

we'll see if the 2YO lets me have peace and quiet... maybe a little of Grandpa's secret Sauce! LOL

     The rifle swivels were made from thin craft wire bent around a very small screwdriver. The gas can buckle was made from the same wire cut into four pieces and super-glued together (won't do that crap again!). The shovel buckle was made from thin copper wire out of braided speaker wire bent into a square and soldered. Then I soldered a piece of the same wire across the square for the look of a buckle. Hope this helps and good luck, wanna see the pics when it's done.

what did you make the buckles out of?

T-Rex, I looked at your build before posting my pictures, and didn't find anything wrong with your Jeep. Did you use pastels for weathering? I've tried that, in fact you can see the results in the 1/35 Jeep in the last photo (the Jeep in the middle). I wasn't happy with the control, rather lack of control, pastels gave me. I used a pin wash and airbrushed a dust color (specifically Model Master Sand FS 33531) for this Jeep. I feel this gave better control. As far as the "correct" colors, you could probably make an arguement for just about any reasonable color to have been applied to Jeeps in WWII. The key is research, which I did using books and the internet. I found several variations in color pretty much everywhere. How is that Tamiya kit, anyway? I've got one on my shelf and wondered if it was any better than, or the same as, the Italeri kit. Thanks again for the input!

Nice willy jeep, much better and cleaner than my tamiya jeep I've finish 2 days ago. I also notice I got the stearing wheel and engine painting wrong. But your is 1/24.
