Thunderbolt379, my modeler didn't use MiG pigments and I don't think
they're available in Thailand. He used industrial paints and thinner and the chipping was done using smallest brush with 70% black +30% dark brown color. As for the kit, I think it's the same block with old Dragon/Zvezda and I still have that one in stock. BTW, have you finished your kit by now?

mg.mikael, you're right about the shiny tires. A.I. has told me sometime ago that the tires were made from rubber and no matter how much paint you applied on to them, they tend to suck in the paints  leaving shiny surface as seen.

JMart, your observations are correct. A.I. could have done better if it was for a contest.

I actually like Model Maniac's posts because it helps my 'critical" eye in picking out errors pointed by other forum members. I am also learning what to look for, in terms of proper construction and accuracy... (I am a newbie of sorts)

For this one, I picked:

- Tires: sink holes on the side of all tires (at the top); should have been putty filled and sanded, right? Too shiny... needed a flat coat? Also, the central seam is visible, I know I have learned to spend a long careful time eliminating that seam. The tread weathering is too uniform ACROSS the thread, instead of within the treads, the wash should have been thinned more?

- Silver "lights"; either use an AM lens, or drill the cavity, paint silver on the back of the light, fill with some clear glue and top off with Future.

Are the observations correct?

Great job! Though the tires came out a bit shiny, and tires in real life are never that reflective/shiny. I don't know if the builder meant to do that, or if he forgot to get rid of the gloss.

Overall a fantastic job!

That is an ugly piece of equipment, but a nice looking model. It looks to me like Art Instructor is getting better at building models.

As always, he has no idea to the answers of any of your questions.  He is not the wonderful "Art Instructor."  He simply buys built models for his massively popular and world renowned collection and shows them off here expecting everyone to swoon and tell him how great they are.

Are these the same molds as the early Dragon kit, now released by Zvezda? I have that one mostly complete, just waiting on brass rod to replace the hopelessly fragile plastic steps, then she's ready for Afghanistan camo. Your build makes me wanna finish that one!

Thers no one thing I preticularly like on this build but the overall efect is buttiefull!

When I was in Moscow in 1994 I saw a bunch of those in the streets. They may not seem like much compared to an M1-A1 but when you stare up the barrel of that "little" gun when you cross a street it's a powerful intimidator! Great job!
