More breaking new kit release news from iHobby Expo

Also exclusive of the new releases are more vintage stock car kits to round out the "Darkside" kit news.

These new kits have a projected release date of April 1st 2010.

DISCLAIMER Please do not look for them earlier or later as the release date, like the kits, is a total fabrication. Your mileage may vary. Close cover before striking. Do not remove label. Please remain seated until the ride comes to a complete stop.

Ahhhh...Mitchum strikes again.  Always nice to see your work.  It would be nicer if some of these kits were actually going to be released.  On a positive note, I saw where Revell is going to re-issue some of the 'classic' funny car kits from the late 60's/early 70's.

Yeah sucks that some of these aren't real......someone obviously has too much time on their hands.....maybe less time making up fake releases, and more time building....yah might have a bit better rep!!

I don't know what kind of "rep" you've got that would allow you to tell me I need to spend more time building but my "rep" is pretty well established in the modeling and the real racing world. I've done work for both ERTL and REVELL/MONGRAM on kit development and licensing. I've also done decal design, research and contract procurement for a couple of decal manufacturers.

I've built hundreds of models for myself, friends and local and national drivers including David Pearson, Tim Flock and Neil Castles.   I've also done several turn key R/C racers with car production and setup for several people including Tom Cruise and Rick Hendrick. I've been building models since 1958 or so and spent thirteen years working for a wholesale hobby distributor and know my way around those piles of plastic that modelers turn into works of art better than most.

I'm a published author and phototgrapher who thinks you may have just overstepped your bounds attempting to flippantly judge my "rep". I enjoy my "digital modeling" as much as my real modeling and really don't appreciate your comments.

Well said doolan.  And I for one (and there are others) enjoy seeing your work here, along with the historic perspective that you often include.

whats not to like? Its just pics of some really cool cars.

PLUS A CATALINA. ITS LIKE TAKING A LIMO, THROWING SOME FLAMES ON IT, AND RACING IT.

I love this kinda stuff!

OK....I don't know you from Adam, as far as your rep goes....congrats on all you have done.

However passing these off as "Dark Releases" from IHobby, and making people believe that they are being re-released is what I (and Round 2 so I am told from them) have a problem with.

Great you like doing digital art....but why pass it off as something its not and I quote:

"More breaking new kit release news from iHobby Expo

 Kind of misleads people......

Before you go on about the "Disclaimer", that wasn't added to your post until after I asked if they were real, that they weren't in the Round 2 catalog.

Overstepped my bounds? Nope...just calling you out on your BS!

First of all, who appointed you "Police of the Internet"?. Taking on that persona most definately oversteps bounds.

That disclaimer was copied and pasted from another posting of this same deal on another site that I figured they might not "get it" that I added here after you didn't get. Since there's always that 2% that doesn't get the word, your "don't know me from Adam" seems to put you in that two percentile and from the replies it seems that most everybody else did.

If Round 2 has a problem, as you seem to relish threatening me with, I figure they can let me know and I'll be glad to comply. I've been doing this stuff for years on the 'net and am pretty well known for it. I think a lot more people look forward to and enjoy it than take offense.

The fact that, referring to your first comments, I should build some models intead of making photochops to improve my "rep" was brought up by you to try to snidely discredit me and my work. The inference seemed to be that I didn't do anything but take photos and photo shop them. I built the models, built the shop and any track or displays in the shots, set up and shot the photos (including the boxes themselves) before I did the photoshop work that seems to you to be so simple as to prompt your contempt.

I guess that MAD Magazine, SNL and others with movie, TV and other satire and lampoon is a gross waste of time and copyright infringement BS in your eyes too. I'm surprised that you didn't pick up on the "Darkside" reference and threaten me with George Lucas as well.

What BS? I dont get what is so bad. OK, so at first, there wasnt a disclaimer. Now there is, why stay angry? Also, if people think this is a real release, a quick search or question will inform them otherwise. Why not just see it for what it is, another form of art.

Ok, Viper, I'd recommend you just take it for what it is. It's fake re-release. So what? He did an excellent job on the box and intended it for fun. I personally appreciate it. Perhaps he should have stated it beforehand, but it DID get you going.
