Fujimi 1/24 Automobile Accessories and Figures
Posted by Sprue-ce Goose on Sunday, July 6, 2014 9:22 AM

I noticed this Fujimi auto accessory kit in a local hobby shop

.............but hesitate to buy without knowing if the figures are reasonably realistic for display purposes.

I have never before seen this kit but presume it may date from the early to mid 1970s.

.

I have been unable to locate any photos of the sprues or comments on the contents and hesitate to buy due to previous experience with the late 1960s era Tamiya  armor figures.

.

Can any of you recommend the figures?

Have not seen any reviews on that set either but I been looking to pick up that kit and convert some of the figures to use in a dio with my 1/24th FW-190, just haven't gotten around to purchasing one. In 1/24th there's not much out there as far has figures goes. Too bad considering the number of kits out there, both cars and aircraft that are on the market.

I agree, there are a lot of 1/24 scale kits that would benefit from the addition of figures to add scale and realism to the build.

In addition to auto / truck kits , I have 1/24th scale AIRFIX aircraft kits that I would like to add figures for display.

Maybe even add figures of the A Team for the old GMC van kit......Whistling

As luck would have it..............I came across this thread after posting:

Spruce, I have both kits and the mechanics are nice and lend themselves well to modifications.  The drivers are useable but seem to take more work.  Add these kits to the Tamiya Campus Friends set and you will have enough figures to make into just about any setting.  Pick the kit up, you will be glad you did.

Nothing ever fits……..and when it does, its the wrong scale.

To make mistakes is human.  To blame it on someone else shows management potential.

Thanks for the recommendations.
I will check back at that hobby shop and see what they still have for the Fujimi kits and do a search for the Tamiya kits Big Smile.

I have used that kit before.  I used the figures for drivers in the cars and they fit and worked well.  Never used the Lady though!

I've used several kits of these figures. They are quite useful and easy to modify for various diorama poses.

I picked up the Fujimi set of figures over the weekend.

They certainly look better than the old 1960s era Tamiya military figures I have and should prove very use useful.

I will try to obtain these:

I hope Tamiya mechanics set will prove adaptable for use as aircraft mechanics to go with my 1/24 Airfix kits but won't know till I buy them....which may take a while as Tamiya lists the Rally Mechanics Set as OOP...

.

Still not sure how I would produce a realistic Mohawk hair cut and gold chain for a Mr. T figure to go with the GMC van............Stick out tongue

Thanks for the info about these kits, guys ! Big Smile

I 'm also looking for the campus friends set but being in the UK they are virtually non existant. They look like us in the 60's, sta-prest trousers, Button down shirt collars and hush puppy shoes and Vespa and Lambretta scooters with the side panels chrome plated and tuned engines. The Mod craze at it's height!

Hmmm...that might not quite work posing with a 1/24 WWII German Bf 109E or .a 1/24 Tasca Panzer.........WhistlingWink
