1/12 scale Tamiya Formula 1 tires and decals
Posted by sdaniels8 on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 12:26 PM

I am bulding the Tamiya McLaren M23.  There are raised outline GOODYEAR logos on the tires.  I can used the supplied decals but they look OK.  I would rather paint the logos on the sidwalls.  Any ideas for an accurate way to do this?  Some Tamiya kits come with a photo etch stencil that works great with an airbrush.  This kit did not.  These letters are a bit different than the ones I am used to.

You may want to see if an aftermarket group sells the stencils, dry transfers, or a preprinted tire. I haven't painted raised letters in years, as the 1:1 tires don't feature raised letters.

Thanks Bob.  I use them a bunch for all of the decals that aren't included in the kits.  I have a couple sets of tire decals coming from them.  Great guys!

Wow..  I never heard of this company before.  I think they will be taking a lot of my money.  The rain tires are not available but they have dry slicks in stock and ready to ship!  Thanks for the tip.
