After putting an almost invisible wash on the seats and waiting a few days try this . Good sweaty hands . Best weathering tool you have . Rub the seats and door panels with those sweaty fingers and I can garauntee a good used every day look !
When I build an old pick-up or work vehicle that's what gits the weathering done . This works best with Semi - Gloss and Flat paint only though .

And to so many folk who were following along and I disappeared, here it is.....the hold up.....
Masking is done (or almost) thanks to an epidsode of "The Bachelorette" which my wife settled in to watch tonight. I'm thinking, I'd rather end it all....hey....wait....the next worse thing would be working on that *E*#(@#(@ masking job. So down I went.
The second one went faster, you know, as they always do. I know y'all see some places need fixing, so do I. Hopefully a few light coats of Ivory color will get me moving forward again.

It is indeed good to see you back at the Bug my friend. As for the masking, you got this. Totally understand the whole disappearing act thing. I've been quite the absentee myself. I'll finally get back to the Corsair soon but, I started a new project to kind of get the 'ole juices back into it. Like you building an auto kit, I've decided to try my hand at a ship model. A first. Working on a simple but poorly molded 1/700 IJN destroyer. Guess I should start a WIP thread over on the ship forums.
Glad I decided to check on you here as the forums email notifications has ceased working. As such, I was unaware of any updates from you as I do subscribe to your build. Appears the admins finally got notice of this glitch and supposedly tech is working on it.

Probably due to some encouragement from Joe and gentle prodding from Bill, finally got door panels masked and painted.
Couple of comments, the masking was lots more than I expected (I enjoy simple masking, complex not so much. And this was my first go with Mission Models paint. Mixed a touch of black to darken up basic red a bit. I sure do like the way it dried. Nice eggshell finish, not 'rubbery' like my usual Vallejo.
Stand by for the unmasking, we shall see how I did.

I used ImageShack for 3 years then my rate almost doubled and they wouldn’t answer my emails so I went with Post Image and it’s free with no junky pop ups.
I learned how to drive stick in my brothers 71 beetle. She was tan outside and terra-cotta interior. That was a sweet little bug. Years later I bought a brand new 1977 Scirocco and had it for a few years then transitioned to a regatta red Datsun 280zx. Now that was a ride!!

Ernie, I also use postimage once in a while. I was using them, then they did something odd, changed their domain or something, I gave up.
All of the VW stories are great. It just seems like everyone has one!
I'm having a fit with these darned door panels......
I know how to mask, really, I do. This was my first time with Mission Models on something masked. Note how it appears to have eaten into the white plastic subtrate. The gloss black is actually Alclad Gloss Black Base (for chrome and stuff) which is lacquer based, I think. How in the world The Mission models ate though that is a mystery.
I admit I don't know what I am doing with the Mission Models yet, but I am so far unimpressed. This red went on extremely opaque and wet (likely explaining the bleed under). Not good at all for this application, and slap my wrists for trying something new on such a complex mask.
I don't think much of these door panels are going to be seen, and I hate to have this attitude with such a nice little kit, but I think I'll touch the panels up and move forward rather than a strip and redo.
