Wow! That shifter is just plain nuts. I am glad to see you done won the good fight my friend. That is really incredible. From all appearances, I'm taking it that it was worth the epic effort...maybe. Now, you be to gatherin' up your sanity, give yourself a hardy pat on the back and then git yourself on off to church to do some soul cleansing for making up thems swear words.

Truly though, masterful work Joe. Bravo!

Mustang,

You asked a while back if I was in Texas and the answer is yes, I live in Arlington. That shifter is amazing.  Part of me wishes you had done a step by step photo set as you assembled it.  Looking forward to more!

Thanks Lew. I used to work in Carrolton at Vista Ridge Pontaic/ Buick/ GMC at what is now at the George W Bush Turnpike. Used to be Trinity Mills. The dealer has long changed to Classic Buick / GMC and I still have friends that work there.

Man....step by step shots would've been impossible buddy. Too many of the "one step forwards--two steps back" thing. lol

Working on the rest of the interior now. I didn't like the OOB door panels ………………..at ALL. First off , the OOB armrest and inside door latch handle were barely visible.  No "Maverick" trim bezel was present at the top of the trim panel either. Being a car than only sees the track....it's not SUPPOSED to have a window crank handle either....BUT...it was molded in and I decided to install a PE handle and knob from the spares bin. The armrest was made out of spare resin parts block retainers that I had, the door latch handles were made out of square bits of PE that I bent and glued into place and the trim bezel was from extra window crank knobs that I had in stock.

Interior in the foreground is OOB with the one I'm using in the back ground.....

The refit looks great Joe. Don't no matter whether there was supposed be a window crank or not, it adds to the interior. And if you like it, I like it.

Mustang,

Nice work on the door cards.  The interiors were kept fairly close to stock, so I'd bet the window handle was there.

Thanks Joe and Lew. Man......has it really been 18 days since I've done anything to this car??? Indifferent  I'm gonna have to get back to the bench on this rascal. I guess after dealing with that shifter I've been a little reserved about spending another 7 hours in front of a seat. lol

Finally found the shifter being discussed top of this page. Also discovered reason I couldn't find it is this is one of those thread where the page block numbers are all messed up, have to use my head to go back one page, and using my head doesn't come easy.

The shifter is really something. Never seen anything PE quite like it.

Thanks for the comments fellas. I might've done a step by step but there was alot involved with this part of the build. I became dedicated to finishing it so much that I forgot about pictures. Half of the time I was frustrated so picture taking wasn't in the works. lol

Thanks Brandon.

Been working on my T/A build and am almost finished. When I get done with it I'll be gearing back up on this one.

Saw this today and it was an inspiration.

ready to go

Well gang....I made some progress on this thing this weekend. Managed to get the seat drilled and slotted to make way for the seat belt harness. The harness build up wasn't too bad outside of me not paying attention to what I was doing at times and having to go back and make some corrections along the way. This is not the period correct harness I was hoping to build but the correct one is actually harder than the Liberty shifter that I just built for this car. I'm not about to go through anything like that again on this build. lol

That looks spot on. Period correct or not, it fits the bill and the only person who will actually know it not is you. To me it looks awesome.

'Preciate it Joe. Hope all is going well your way brother.

Today saw the installation of the shifter. I cut the rods to length as well and will be installing those tomorrow morning. Really adds a lot to the interior....

Thanks Brandon, Real G, Joe and Lew.

Lew: Well.....I just found out that the Nats are postponed until 2023 so I still stand a chance in taking this one to San Marcos in a few years. And yes....hopefully we'll be going to SA next year. Looking forward to meeting you if there's a show next year.

Your Mustang-ness, salutations an' hellos!

Haveing been down in me subterrian bunker/root cellar, I just finally got the peddle powered generator to get me a full charge on the 270 flishlight batterys that power me computer; so, WOW! look at what I missed til now. Once again you have pulled off a grand thing.  Always thought Dino Don was the best and this is a great tribute to his Maverick. all the work is your usual top drawer style but that D...shifter is incredable.  Well the lights Idea a startn' to dim and so's my brain.  I'll look froward to your next instalment

Test fitted the AMT Mustang shock towers this morning. I think this is going to work fine but I still have the radiator core support and firewall to go.
