Oh boy, a Mustang GT. This should be fun.

Good news!!! I found me some BONUS SHOTS of my old car!!!! I'm currently doing a bathroom renovation to our master bathroom and needed some tools that were hidden away in the "house toolbox" by my wife. While looking for the tools I found a small plastic photo box with..............a whole load of pictures of my old Acapulco Blue Mustang PLUS a slew of negatives that I'll be taking to the local photo developer here in town to have the pictures printed up with. Frickin' SCORE!!!!

Here are those missing pictures of my 69 Mach 1 351W in my '67 while it was under construction. Man................I haven't seen these things in 10 years now. Now.............what the hell were they doing in the dang tool box for???

Oho!

Change the color to Bronze Pearl Metallic and make it a FastBack and you then have MY Mustang. Oh, I had a 68 Mercury mill and a Borg-Warner four Speed in mine. You know That was to me, the BEST Ford design they ever produced.

 Mine had Bendix Discs on all four corners with Borroni Wire Wheels too. With real Knock-offs. Why That's what I wanted the end car to be like. That was the only car I ever did all that to. Great looking model too. Enjoy!

Looking forward to this build. BTW Unilite is Mallory not MSD, not to nit pick just FYI... I've built a few 67-68 Mustangs in my time and used both MSD and Mallory Unilite.

Tell me a bout it, I let go of my 1967 S code 390 fastback in January 2007 and my 1968 390 Highland Green fastback in 2008... kicking myself ever since. I got the kit you picked up and I'm going to make a copy of my dream car as an inspiration/template.

Alright gang......I haven't had this build out in the open much so I'll get crackin' and get everyone caught up to speed on this one. 

I'll start here with the engine:

I used the base engine and replaced the OOB carburetor with a Holley Double Pumper from Shapeways, the cooling fan & throttle pivot levers are from Detail Master, photoetch and resin air cleaner are from Iceman Collections on Ebay and the paper element was replicated by scratchbuilding. Plug wires are from Lex's Scale Modeling, Fuel lines and electrical harness were scratchbuilt. Wiring harness was just braided wire with the insulation stripped off of it. I then applied super glue the length of the harness save for the part where I separated out the wires for individual circuits and painted the length of the harness black to simulate a black taped wire harness. Individual "circuits were then ran to the ignition coil and alternator and fastened to the "studs" on the alternator and coil and scale retaining nuts were then applied to each stud to retain the circuits. Scale nuts were from Detail Master. Fuel line was made from solder and RB Motion supplied the necessary anodized fittings. Flex fan is also from Detail master.

Dash work. I spent alot of time in this area and although I'm not 100% happy with it, I'll let it pass with a 90% "feelgood factor" in my book.

Over the course of the last couple of months I had a small diversion in modeling. I built an engine for a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang as part of a community project. Had alot of fun with it. Started out with the Revell Boss 302, had Thomas Logan at Speedway Decals cut me all the proper decals for the engine, acquired plug wires from Lex's Scale Modeling & wire looms from Detail Master. Power steering dipstick tub was fabricated from a section of syringe and the engine oil and power steering dipsticks were fabbed out of solder for the P/S and a section of silver wire for the engine oil dipstick. Fuel line was solder formed and routed. Engine wiring harness was a section of automotive electrical wire with the insulation stripped. Super glue was applied to the harness, dried and painted over with black to simulate a wiring harness that was wrapped in black electrical tape and the 4 remaining "leads" were painted the correct wire color and routed to the ignition coil and grounds to the engine block and cylinder head. Hot air duct from R/H exhaust manifold to the air cleaner was replicated using fine electrical wire wound in tight coils and painted black. Air cleaner lid was painted with Molotow Chrome shot through an airbrush and rocker covers were shot with a coat of Alclad II Polished Aluminum. Colors used on the engine were MM Dark Blue Acrylic for the cylinder head, block and air cleaner, MM Aluminum Enamel was used on the intake manifold & transmission bellhousing and MM Steel Enamel was used on the exhaust manifold "steel" areas and transmission followed up by a light dry brushing of ground up black pastel. 

and then there's that last picture for scale reference.

Now .................back to this build.

Been working on the console, seats and seat belts ALL frickin' week long guys. I finally have some pics worth showing.

Still have the back seat, front floor mats and shifter to go.....



and THEN......I got my license plates in the mail today...juuuuuust like the one's on my old car......



Even got the "Have you chased a Mustang lately" tag frame on it.
