Okay!
You've heard about Glue Bombs? Right? Well, this was a half constructed custom .What did I buy it for? To bring it back to out of the Box Stock Glory! I always thought the 61 Fords(Full Size) were handsome cars and I didn't have one in my stable.
When I first spotted it at my fave flea market i didn't open it to look. When I went back I looked. Oh MY! It's partly assembled for heavens sake! And as the first level custom in the kit! Hmmm, I wonder? Paid my money and got it home.
First thing I discovered was it was going to require removal of Testors Modeling Putty, Then a trip to the Freezer! Success, that putty just flaked off leaving a rather glue bound mess. next, another trip to the Freezer-For Forty-Eight hours this time.
Did it work? Well, the English would say Bob's yer Uncle! The parts did come off with a few little attacks of the Good old X-Acto but otherwise she came out pristine, with a few glue lines to remove. The only thing to do was restore some chrome lines and make sure the lower Quarter trim was clean for foil.
I decided to do more. I released the seats from the sides of the interior buckets. Why? Well, the seats were nice with their folds and all, but, the sides were just barely detailed at all-Common with kits from that era! Not now though.I have reconstructed the sides with Arm rests with ash trays in the rear and door and window gear from an aftermarket supplier.( I don't remember which one) but the parts are all aluminium.
She's about ready for her first coat of watered down primer. Catchya later T.B.
